inverter

could this be the inverter above the generator?
Also, I am missing the panel. It is 12 inches square. If I could get a picure, I think I could get my local machine shop to make a replacement.
Thanks for your help

Yep, looks like you found the inverter.
that "panel" you are missing is the cover for the water heater.
It is ventilated, you may find a used one, but I would make sure the heater works on propane & electric before you put in much of a search.

If your house/coach batteries are 12 volt batteries, I would replace each 12v with two 6 volt GC2 golf cart batteries connected in series to make 12 volts.
Golf cart batteries are designed for constant charge/discharge and will last much longer.
Just to be clear, this is for the house/coach not the engine start.

A charger says they are bad?
Usually best to charge, then load test.
I second Vito's suggestion of a pair of golf cart batteries to replace each 12 volt battery. This is what should have been there originally.
Just to get things going for testing, you could just use a 12v car battery temporarily as a house battery. It just wouldn't hold a load too long, but would be sufficient to check things out before investing a lot in batteries.

A search on Amazon for RV water heater cover should show what you need, get the model # off it to get right one.
