1998 Dynasty dash air oil capacity

apologies for any who see this double posted (also asking same question on another forum; hoping for assist wherever I can get it)

I need to replace the dash air compressor and receiver/drier on our 1998 Dynasty (compressor seized). I have the refrigerant capacity, and the oil capacity for the compressor, but cannot locate the oil capacity for the system (lines & evaporator).
I wrote to Evans-Tempcon and they did not have any information dating back that far.
Can anyone assist?
Many thanks....

Hmmm. My 2001 dynasty suddenly had an oily small pool on top the genny (from lines above) and my ac got hot. Noticed the next day the compressor spun for about 2 seconds and then stopped. Haven't found my leak yet but I'm following this thread. What have you found out so far ref refrigerant and oil capacity?

Refrigerant for the year model (and those close by) is 4.0 lbs R134a "give or take" (I'm learning about the a/c system as I go along). The actual amount of refrigerant is to be determined more closely by looking at the gauges and pressures on the high and low sides while running for fine-tuning. At least this is what I understand.

The compressor oil is 'compressor-specific' - meaning, each is different. Documentation for the new compressor says it is supposed to be 4.0 ounces, but best practice says to drain the old oil out before replacing and measure; then replace with same amount. The same is true for the entire system supposedly...drain old oil and replace same amount. I do know that the entire system needs to be flushed, and the expansion valve is a potential replacement if clogged. The a/c repair guy asked me to try and find out the oil capacity. Where we live in NM there are very very few repair shops, and none are familiar with RVs; diesel trucks and autos yes, but not RVs - hence the question from the a/c repair folks.

I understand that the receiver/dryer (new) holds 1 ounce.

So that's where I am; looking for a complete system evacuation, replace compressor & receiver dryer (and maybe expansion valve) and then re-charge after pulling vacuum for at least 2 hours or so to dry system and also check for leaks.

So that's where I am on the learning curve......

My 2008 took about 4.2 lbs. It depends on if you purge your lines completely, it may take less. My pump, dryer and fittings at both ends were leaking. If the A/C shop is any good they will have an electronic sniffer or leak detector. This will take the guess work out, otherwise it will be a costly search. Don't ask me how I know.

My '01 Endeavor 38PBD took 58 oz of refrigerant. I also replaced the dryer after installing a new compressor. I completely evacuated the system and bought a 1 lb can of "First Shot Refrigerant". It's a heavy oil charge. Then I continued to fill till I figured I was at the 58 oz mark. My gauges only showed about 28 lbs of suction pressure and 40-50 Psi on the high side. My dash air temp is running 48 - 55 degrees depending on the ambient temp. An auto-air technician told me those pressures were good due to the long run of hoses between the compressor and the evaporator. Hope this helps
