1998 Holiday Rambler slide out question
I have a new to me HD Endevour. For the life of me I can't see how the slide out is locked in place. I hit the button and can see it start to move, but the stop. It clearly has a lock, but I can't find it. Anyone have this RV that can answer the question please help Thanks Norm

If your HR is like my diplomat. There is a bar on top of the slide that locks it when the slide us in. Feel around the top and you should feel the bar. It has to be removed. Most people do not put it back in once it is removed.

Look on top of the slide out for a locking bar.

I have a 98 Endeavor. I have two lock bars inside the coach, on top of the slide. one goes aboove the microwave, the other is behind the driver's seat on the top corner of the slide. You may have to reach inside or feel around to get to them.
These units also don't have a stop switch, it gives you more control but you have to run it in and out a few times to get the hang of it.

I agree about the bar on top. My 2000 Holiday Rambler Endeavor came with two of these to be installed at the top of the slide. The slide motor also has a lock device that works automatically, and I never use the slide locks as they are too hard to install and not needed.

I don't mean to take over this thread but I have a 'new to us' 1999 HR Vacationer and have read about the slide locks in the owners manual.
Can someone tell me what they look like or where I can get new ones? I realize they are supposed to be above the slide when it is 'in' but have searched the entire MH and found nothing. The slide works fine but I'd like to be safe about this before doing a lot of traveling.
Here is a picture of the area above the slide

Al, The lock is a simple expansion bar that rests inside of the space shown in your picture. You adjust it to almost snug inside the space then flip the lever to apply tension. I'll send you a pic or post it here this weekend. My 1998 Endeavor uses 2 different types, 1 of each type. Standby

I hate to mention bad things but, from your picture, it looks like the Eternabond is all bunched up and is probably going to cause the top outer seal to not make contact. Don't be surprised if you have a leak when it rains and the slide is extended.

Thanks for pointing that out. We haven't even camped in it yet so haven't really had the slide open except to see how it looks. It has a canopy over it so I'll have to figure out how to release that so I can get to the bunched up area and clean/replace it. One of the first things I bought for RV'g was a roll of that tape.

You are very welcome. Typically, you will need to replace that tape from the inside. The wood trim needed to be pulled off the face. On yours it is probably the 2 top "medallions" and 2 long pieces. That will expose the metal trim that the tape covers. it's no fun .... but better than mopping up rainwater.

The top pics are of the one directly behind the driver's seat. The red handled one is above the cooktop when placed.

Why do anybody put them bars back in. They are only for shipping a new RV.
