1998 HR Imperial, Charging issues...

Last week I lost my Alt in North Carolina. Luckily I was able to get home using the Jeeps Alt and a jumper cable while in tow. Replaced the Leece Nevil 160amp alt with a new one and now the system is completely not working. Doing some digging the bird system is unhooked and the batteries are hooked in series for the coach house and the engine.

There is three white wires running to the Alt. and a fourth blue one. The blue I think is for the tach and the power from the key is correct. Seems the other two are powerless. when tested.

Anyone have a wiring diagram or knowledge in getting the wiring back up to near factory settings. The previous owner did some terrible things to the wiring systems to save a buck.

I have a 200 amp Leece Nevil and one wire is keyed, one wire is the sensing wire and one
wire is the tach. I believe the sensing wire is hot all the time. Then the is two cables
for the ground and the charging lead. I don't know what a forth wire would be for.

Recently replaced my alternator. I decided to replace my 160 amp Leece Neville with a 200 amp Delco Remy 28SI. The install was fairly simple except on the DR you don't connect the excite wire since it is self exciting. I had my old LN rebuilt and carry it as a spare.

If you look at the following (page 9) you will see the back of the LN. The top 2 connections are for the Remote Sense & Ignition (Excite wire). The tach wire is connected to any one of the 3 lower connections.

I also just changed out my LN to a Delco 180 amp. The only wire I did not connect was the ignition wire. I have read that using the remote sense wire allows a better charge rate as its hard for the alt. to sense voltage from the main charge lug. So far it has charged great. A long trip will tell.

The sense wire is necessary if you have a diode type isolator.

Any idea of where to chase the sense wire to ?? Mine has no power. I've tried to look for a wiring diagram with no luck ...
