1999 Monaco Diplomat - Need to Price for Sale
We have a 1999 Monaco Diplomat that we will likely be selling to a friend. We aren't looking to get a heck of a lot for it in its condition, but we also don't want to way underprice it, either. Any help would be very appreciated!
The good:
Engine runs with no known issues
Transmission has been checked by a specialist and only needs 1 sensor. We were quoted up to $1500 for this repair, possibly considerably less (it's one of three identical sensors, no way to know which one except trial and error, and two of them are very easy to reach. One requires accessing the middle of the transmission, hence the steeper price. I hope I got that right lol.)
Onan 7500 GenSet generator runs with no known issues
Other than one AC that is leaking, the roof is solid
Exterior is fair to good condition
On demand propane water heater 4 years old
The bad (and there's a lot!!!):
Needs a full interior gut and rebuild down to the studs
Needs new subfloors throughout
ACs and heater inoperable
Missing most of the original furniture and some of the original cabinetry
Something is wrong with the electrical. We replaced the inverter/converter with just a converter (had an RV tech do this) and it worked well for a bit and now won't work. Exactly 2 overhead lights and one outlet work. Otherwise, nada.
The fridge needs to be replaced or tuned up. It runs but cycles one day at 32-34 degrees and one day at 45-50 degrees, rinse and repeat. It's also missing the two top front panels.
There was a cat in here at one point who got up under the dash and peed up there - thankfully not near/on any electrical wires. It's going to need to be torn apart, cleaned, insulation replaced, and the dash reinstalled.
Do I value this just based off the engine, transmission, and generator? I have had several people who aren't really RV people land on $5,000 as a fair price, but that seems like a lot to me given the interior condition... We have been very transparent with our friends on condition and they are still interested. I know the pool of people wanting an RV in this condition is going to be slim, so I don't want to overprice it - plus for fairness, I don't want to overcharge our friends.
Thoughts? Thank you in advance!!

Probably a $500 RV. I see rebuilders on Craigslist all the time for sale at high prices but they never sell. If someone offers $5k, grab the money and run.

As you describe it, it doesn't even have salvage value. If this is a real friend you wouldn't stick him with a pig in a poke. Just sign the title over and there won't be any hard feelings later.

I'm also going with sign the title over and be happy it's gone. You don't mention anything about tires or the roof (and SO many other things), and if the entire subfloor needs to be replaced the roof must have leaked a lot for a long time.

I'll guess that I'm the buyer of the closest comparable to this RV, except mine didn't start. I paid more than the $500 figure. $5,000 may be high, but I'd say 3k is around the minimum value for the components. That's not some sticks and paneling rig either, so it has a solid shell to work with. Removing the carpet and hosing everything out will make it much less intimidating. The sensor could be just a loose connection, do you know what the code is for the trans? youtube will show you how to read the codes if it has the push button shifter. That's assuming the trans is driveable, or fixable where it sits. A tow might change the situation.
edit: if that's a diesel generator, 5k is fair if it drives.

Nope.. just hand over the title and educate him on what it going to be required to restore it, including the delamination probability.
