Re the problem above: my switch has an indicator light that lights solid when I try to start the generator from this position. I thought it used to flash during the start up. Can someone confirm the lamp's behavior during start? Solid or flashing?
I am thinking of replacing the switch since it starts from the other three switches.
Of course the bedroom switch has no lamp and the one above the passenger seat is burned out but still starts the Genny.

Jeff,
I would probably start with the switch and remove the wires and jump them to see if it starts. I am guessing that you already disconnected and re-connected the harness plug at the generator. Since the others are working, I don't think that is the problem but worth a check.

Does your start switch flash during start or remain solid?

Jeff,
Not sure but don't remember flashing unless you are checking for thrown codes. I only check for codes at generator start on unit if I remember correctly.

Okay found the answer. It's suppose to blink. Must be a bad switch since they all share common red/yellow wiring.
From the manual at http://www.cumminsonan.com/www/html/...s/981-0161.pdf :
Status Light − This is an LED (light emitting diode) in the control switch which blinks rapidly during pre- heat and cranking. (Preheat is the period of time prior to engine cranking when the glow plugs pre- heat the combustion chambers. The time is auto- matically varied by the genset controller on the ba- sis of engine temperature.) After the genset starts up, this light stays on continuously, indicating that the genset is running and that the starter has dis- connected. Also, if the genset shuts down, this light blinks in a coded fashion to indicate the nature of the shutdown (see Troubleshooting, Page 21).
