2002 Holiday Rambler Navigator Aqua Hot

Hello Everyone I am the proud new owner of a 2002 Holiday Rambler Navigator. That being said I have a ton of questions that I hope this group can help me with.

The first question is about the aqua hot system. I read the manual but it is vague. First how do you switch the system to use only the electric and not the diesel burner? The next question is how do you turn it off. I have the heat shut off inside the coach but the aqua hot still comes on. I think the thermostat in the water bay might be calling for heat, but I do not want the system do run so how do you completely shut it off? There is no switch on the outside thermostat and no markings on it.

Thank you for your help.

Shut off the diesel and electric switches and it’s off. Turn the thermostat off in the basement so it doesn’t call for heat and run a pump. Turn on electric and diesel off for electric only

The boiler will maintain a set temp. A anti scale mixing valve adjusts hot water temp out of heat exchanger. Electric is only really good hot water it may be enough for the single heater in lower bay.

Wow, you found a really nice coach!
Lots to learn. You should have two Aqua Hot rocker switches probably in the kitchen. One is the diesel burner, and one is 120v electric. 120v electric will take hours to heat up the Aqua Hot boiler tank and only give you a brief amount of hot water. It will not heat the coach interior.

For interior heat you must turn on the diesel burner switch and also set the thermostats to Furnace. It takes a 20 min burn for the diesel burner to heat up the boiler tank. You will then have interior heat and unlimited hot water if you leave the diesel burner switch on.
You can also get heat and hot water from driving the coach. The coach engine heater hoses are plumbed to the Aqua Hot boiler tank and will heat up the boiler fluid as you drive. This will provide both hot water and interior heat.

If you want the Aqua Hot system off, turn off both the diesel burner switch and the electric switch. Then turn off the thermostats or at least take them out of Furnace mode.
Hope this helps.

There's a yearly service that includes changing nozzle , filter and combustion chamber cleaning. A spare nozzle is a good idea to carry. If it was to act up, you can fix it or rule that out right away. You can download service manual as well as find several vids how to do the service. It one of those things "diesel side" that's good to exercise monthly like the generator.

Thanks for your help. The kitchen only has one switch so I assumed that was the electric switch. I turned it on so hopefully it will reduce the amount of diesel used. Still cannot find a switch for the diesel turn off.

Page 303 of your owners manual shows the Aqua Hot diesel burner switch near the drivers area next to the engine brake and drivers shade switches.

Drvr Shade: Operates the power sun visor located driver’s
side.
Brake: This switch activates the control solenoid for the engine
brake system.
Aqua-Hot: Turns the Aqua-Hot diesel burner on.

If you download the digital copy of your owners manual you can perform searches by selecting Edit at the top, then about 3/4 of the way down select Find and type in the phrase or words you are looking for.

Aqua Hot Switch

The aqua hot only uses 1/2 gallon of diesel per hour with all 3 heater zones running. It is also the best way to have unlimited hot water. The electric heating element is small& will only give you limited hot water. The switch in your kitchen sink area turns the electric element off & on. It is only powered when hooked to shore power. The switch on the dashboard marked Aqua Hot turns the diesel off & on. However when driving down the road, your motorhome engines water heats the aqua hot & doesn't use the diesel burner in the aqua hot. It gives you free hot water for the first day after turning off the engine with out having to turn on the aqua hot diesel switch.
