2002 Monaco Safe T Plus Steering

Just contacted Safe T Steer and they recommended their steer kit with the blue shock absorber for my 2002 40' Executive, weight 47,000 lbs, I am thinking about buying and installing myself, has anyone else done this, the only thing I'm concerned with is enough room under coach for my old body to perform task, 02 Exec's are not known for having lots of room to crawl under. Would be interested to hear any recommendations on install or another unit

We installed the Blue on our '03 RR8S 40' chassis using the leveling jacks to raise it and then floor jacks to support it.
We have installed a total of three on our various motorhomes, and it gets easier every time.

I just bought one for my rig, and intend to install it myself. The video makes it look pretty straight forward. I may have to put it on jack stands for the installation, doubt it, but the adjustments are made after driving the rig, so it should be aired up and high enough to get under. The adjustment require driving, so this is one of those hated "No Beer Installations". And I'm thinking overalls to do the drawl under adjustments so I can strip them off to drive.

What TonyMac said...
Except for the beer - I saved adjustments for day 2!
I will add - on my Dynasty without jacks it is not very pleasant to crawl underneath the coach. Using the air to raise it up as high as possible, there still are places that you can not do anything but lay flat on your back. Rolling to your side, even to reach tools, is nearly impossible. I would recommend rolling the front axle up onto blocks during the installation. An additional 4 inches would make a world of difference! (I know, I know... That's what she said.)

I put a Blue Ox on ours about 3 years ago myself. Fairly easy with basic tools . I have 2x12's so I can roll coach up on them and give me about 4-5 more inches clearance.
I've had Zero issues with it and you can adjust it from the cockpit.

I need to ask why you are considering the Safe T Steer?

If you are looking for improved handling with your Roadmaster chassis, I'd suggest you read this thread:

You tube video of Mike building a Watts link for a Roadmaster RR10S:

I personally know three folks with the Watts link installed and they are all very happy with it.

Hi Vito, I am not looking for improved handling, more for added blow out safety, my coach has a tag axle and handling has not been an issue, handles extremely well in high winds, passing semi's etc., I'm sure this is partly due to tag axle, the info you attached is very interesting, a little harder to install than Safe T Plus which is the way I have decided to go, I do appreciate info.

FYI they do not have a Monaco Watts system for a 4 jack system. See attached sent to me 9/17 from Mike Hughes.

"Hello Ken,

Unfortunately, I haven't designed any kits for the 4 jack system.

Ken, please define "4 jack system".
Do you mean the early four airbag/shock chassis?

When you look at the MonacoWatts product listing, you will see that there is a listing for a 3 Hydraulic Jack system but not one for a 4 jack system. This is what Mike was referencing when he responded to my inquiry.
