2003 Dynasty Legacy Fuel System Battle!
I've been battling this thong for a while now and see a light at the end of the tunnel ( Hopefully it's not a Freight Train coming at me) time will tell. I'll take some better pics of what I've done as the ones it took are too dark to see much. I originally thought the two 1/2" lines were supply and went onto a "Y" and then a single line to the Lift Pump (Mine died), and the two 3/8" lines were the return from the Caps pump. In reality the drivers side 1/2" was the return, the passenger 1/2" was the supply and the 3/8" lines were for the generator. I put my system on the passenger side and a check valve on the drivers side to prevent cross feeding. It ran for a while but shut off. The tank sounded really empty, so I was going to use a wooden dowel to check the level ( the dealer had a hell of a time getting the fuel gage to work right, it said 1/2 tank, but it could on the blink again.) Anyway I tried to remove the supply fitting and tube, but it was too long to come out, so I just added more fuel. Still No Go. The I discovered that I had a book with fuel system schematics, the check valve was stopping the return and shutting the system down. So it started up again and ran for a couple days, then quit again. So I chased my tail for a while only to find a whole bunch of rust flakes plugging up my fuel filter. It seems the fuel pick up tube had a layer of rust on it and I knocked a bunch of it off. The old tube was 5/8" dia. open on the end and just sucked up the flakes. The new tube is 3/4" plugged on the end and a series of 1/8" holes low and 3/16" holes higher up and pop riveted to the old stub. It Runs Again! Hopefully that's really a light at the end of the tunnel.
