Exclamation 2003 IS 330 fuel problems

Can anyone tell where this Electric fuel pump is located in the engine compartment.
Changing both fuel filters and need to check the electric fuel filter pump as per the manual. Veryy unclear as to where it is located.

Engine cranks but will not fire up.

Did you prefill the filters with clean fuel? If you didn't I'd take them off and prefill. The procedure for changing filters is to turn on/off your ignition key 3-4 times without trying to start the engine.

If you have an ISC the fuel pump is located on the passenger side of the engine toward the transmission right above the starter.

The fuel pump will run about 30 seconds, you should be able to hear it. The fuel pump does have a known problem, there are 3 bolts that sometimes loosen up. You can try tightening them to solve that problem.

The 3 bolts mentioned are the top bolts on lift pump....If you've run it completely out of fuel to where the engine quit, more than likely you'll have to bleed the injectors....If you don't hear the lift pump, you might need to just bump the start, without starting, to activate the lift pump.....

If you didn't fill the filters with fuel before installing, it is very likely that you have air in the fuel lines and will have to bleed the fuel lines where they enter the engine head. It is a matter of loosening the nut on the line where it enters the head and crank the engine over until fuel starts to appear. Each line will require this to get the air out. Hopefully, someone who has done this recently will have a better explanation. Good luck.

I had a the same engine before and pretty sure at the electric fuel pump there is not a fuel filter. You should a primary and secondary only.

I would remove each filter and fill it with diesel. Then turn the key on and off about 4 times to help prime and remove air from the system. I will bet it will stay running.

Welcome to iRV2 .

Just a little problem here as you're missing a letter in your engine description .

In your coach's model year Cummins offered a 330 HP version of the ISB 5.9L and ISC 8.3L engines .
Although both engines use an electric lift pump in a similar location , the duty cycle was different and the high pressure injector pump was different .
On an ISB the lift pump cycled for approx 30 secs at key on , and ran continually after engine start up.
On and ISC , the lift pump cycled on key on for approx 30 sec. then , on start up, a mechanical section of the main injector pump took over and the electric prime pump shut down .
With either system pre filling the fuel filters can help avoid introducing air into the system and start up issues. On either engine , the lift pump duty cycle may require , bumping the starter , ( a short engagement without long crank time ) to start the 30 sec run cycle.

If your engine is the ISB , please post that info and I'll detail the proceedure for bleeding air from the injectors.
