So I’ve read up on this forum and have a pretty good grasp on it now.

We just bought a 2003 Cayman 36PBD. Older coach, but it’s very clean, fits our planned usage and budget. It has a brand new set of Source Engineering trailing arms already installed.

The question for those that have, or have had this model coach, is what things I should be aware of, and what upgrades/improvements you recommend?

I am very mechanically inclined and have been RVing my whole life, but this is my first PD.

Any comments are greatly appreciated.

Not the same coach but one of the first things I did with mine was install a TPMS system. Not only for safety but tire management. Keeping tires at the right pressure helps the ride and the wear.

I also upgraded the TV's if it already hasn't been done, made sense just due the the savings in weight. The old analog TV's weighed a ton. New LED are light and energy efficient.

What do you intend to do with the coach, mostly campgrounds or boon docking?? If you boon dock you might consider solar with more battery storage.

Will be mostly dry camping with some campgrounds.

TVs have already been replaced, but I will be upgrading those again soon. It has a Winegard HD sat antenna, so good TVs are a must.

I’ll consider the TPMS.

FWIW, I had new front tires on when I first bought our rig and added the TPMS just before heading off on a +14Kmile trip. I noticed one of the tires loosing pressure and found the valve loose. Without TPMS it may have been days before catching the problem, possibly compromising the tire. I was getting ready to put tires on my rig and already bought a newer TPMS to protect my investment.

There are several group forum here for different themes. You might visit the one on technology as it hits on solar and those types of upgrades. There is one for boon docking which has different topics. All good resources.
