2003 Monaco Windsor low air alarm problem

Normally, my low air alarm makes a steady pulse beep that stops when air pressure meets minimum.

For quite some time, on occasion, the low air alarm would make other noises, sometimes a faster pulse, higher pitched beep, other times a steady tone. Always before it would stop when pressure was at minimum.

Now, the alarms sounds the high fast pulse pitch and when air pressure meets minimum the alarm changes to a steady tone. It continues for a random period then shuts off (one time it took an hour).

Everything about the air brakes seems fine, once the alarm stops, it works normally as long as the pressure is above minimum.

What could be causing the alarm to sound so crazy?

Pressure switch , can't tell you where it is , right off the park brake airline would be my first thoughts.

The switch referenced in Bob Nodine's nice write up is on the parking brake plunger. I did follow his article and did the swap a few years ago and have not had an issue since.

Previously I had changed out that switch at least 3 or 4 times. I stopped counting.

If I were OP, I'd probably start by changing out this switch, but he mentions that the "low air alarm tone" changes. That alone is suspect that something else is going on. It's possible the speaker annunciator box, under the dash, is acting up.

I'd have to re-read that article since it's been several years. But as I recall, when I did the nason re-build, it was all up at the plunger.

The low air pressure switch probably is on the tank, but the different tones the OP is mentioning keeps me thinking it's an annunciator issue.

On our 04 Monaco dynasty the low air pressure alarm switch is underneath the very left switch panel, the one with the park brake switch on it, towards the very front. You may want to look there too.

That's where you would naturally think it would be. Having the same coach as yours, now I know where mine is :-)

Thank you all for the advice. I read the linked article and despite my very limited knowledge of air brakes it was helpful.

Everything suggests replacing the parking brake pressure switch first so I'll be ordering one. Can I disconnect to see if it stops the tone without a problem?

You can go inside your dash and find this little box.

This is what is actually making the beeping noise you're hearing. Easy to track down by following the sound. You can unplug it, but keep in mind, you won't have any audio warnings.

Have same problem last year. Simple fix
