2003 Safari Cheetah Dash A/C issue

After leaving Alaska and arriving in warmer weather we discovered the dash A/C wasn't working. I don't have a chassis wiring diagram in the box of documents that came with the RV and Monaco revered me to the forum since nwrv also doesn't have a copy from what they purchased from the bankruptcy sale.

Thus does anyone have a chassis wiring diagram set for the 2003 Safari by Monaco? Or just the dash A/C one?
I have been reading wires and finding some useful items but it would really help to make sure I am not missing a fusible link or relay that is "hidden" in a unique location.

Thanks
nate

Hi Nate & welcome to the IVR2 Forum. When you say the dash A/C is not working, that leaves quite a few places where there could be a problem. If I remember correctly, getting older by the minute here, your Safari Cheetah has a rear radiator. If I am correct, the condenser for the A/C system is located on the drivers side behind the rear duel and behind a grill that opens. Also should be an electric fan that turns on when you select A/C on the dash switch. Is this fan coming on? Also your system could be low on Freon. There is a pressure switch on one of the lines that come from the A/C compressor in the generator compartment. If the system is low on Freon the switch will not close and the system will not run the A/C compressor and also the condenser fan. I am remembering this from my brother in laws 2003 H.R. Neptune. I think your system is similar. His would not work and I found it was low on Freon. I jumped the pressure switch and the engine A/C compressor engaged and the fan for the condenser also started. I added the proper amount of Freon and every worked until he sold the coach 2 years later. For fuses, I think they are in your outside electrical bay under the drivers seat outside. Monaco has a couple of boxes marked 1 or 2 and I think the fuses for the A/C compressor are located in that compartment. If you have the owners manual there might be a reference in there for fuse location in the chassis section. Hope I have given you a couple of places to start. Mabey someone will read your post who has a wiring diagram. Good luck!

I don't know where to find schematics, but looking at the wiring job inside every motorhome I have ever seen, one would have to load up on whiskey and LSD to make any sense of the mess these morons assemble. But I digress. What is your dash air not doing? Is it blowing, but not cold, cold but not blowing, or not blowing and not cool? Does it start running cold and wonderful and then quit over time? Does it blow on the windshield and not out of the vents?

Thanks

Thanks for the replies, I am going to locate a dual guage A/C manifold to test both sides before adding any 134a to the system. I did locate the trisensor relay and was able to activate the condenser fan by grounding it out. I also hope to test compressor clutch as well but it is not in a very easily accessible location.
The diagram does help.
Thanks and I will let you all know how it goes.
Nate

Follow Up

I tested the clutch once I could get to it, and it engages fine.

I then ran jumpers across the connectors for the Trinary Switch which powers the Fan and Clutch pending pressure and the compressor engaged when AC was turned on but no cooling even after using a refill can with static pressure at 30 when off. I didn't want the pump to be "empty" and cause issues. Once I set to AC again the pump engaged and the dial on the low side went to zero and I added more from the refill can. Never left zero. Thus I definitely need to get a dual gauge set and likely have a leak.

So it will have to wait till we get to our destination for further eval and/or repair of any leaks and compressor.

THanks
Nate

30 static is very low. You should be seeing around 100 psi static with ambient air temps in the mid 80s.
