2003 Windsor Unloaded Weight?

Good afternoon,

I am looking for help determining the unloaded weight of a 2003 Windsor 40PST. I have the GVW, axle capacities, etc., but the sheet showing the weight of the coach as built cannot be located.

Does anyone have a 40PST that can help out?

Thanks,
Graydon

You might try to use this form, include the VIN

https://www.monacocoach.com/contact-us/

Or drive the coach to a scale and have it weighed.

Thanks, Jim. I'd love to be able to weigh it, but the coach is on the other side of the country. I'm VERY seriously considering a long distance purchase. Just want to make sure it has the capacity to tow a car trailer with 800# tongue weight. Seems like 30k# should be about right, which leaves 7.5K# capacity.

My 2002 Monaco Windsor has a 10K hitch with 1000 lb tongue capacity.

The 2003 had a design change in that they went with an alumium cage for the house.

Mine is steel and as a result really heavy and my 38PKD model has ~1850 lb CCC.

I know that the 2002 40PST had a larger rear axle then mine, 23K vs 20K.

I looked at a 2004 Windsor and they have the same axle and taking to account the aluminum structure should have plenty of CCC and be able to pull the trailer without a problem

You can download a 2004 brochure here

I have a 2002 40 PST 36K GVW and 46K combined. As Jim said, 2003 has aluminum frame which would be lighter GVW. You will love the layout of the PST. .Best of luck, no matter what.

This won't address what you really were asking about unloaded weights, but might be of interest to you. I "HAD" a 40 foot 2003 Holiday Rambler Scepter DST(bath and 1/2) With my 2003 Ford Explorer in toe, and loaded to travel it weighed a little over 35500 lbs. It only had the Cummins 8.3 liter. I weighed each corner also, left side weighed 700 lbs more than right. Left rear weighed 300 more than right rear. ( 2 slides on left side and all the radiators.)
Just some info
Good luck, that's a great coach!

Should be right at 29,000 from the factory.

Empty weight

Take the coach to a truck stop that has scales after you have emptied it and have it weighed. Fill the fuel tank before you weigh. Diesel weighs about 7.1lbs per gallon, so if you know how many gallons of fuel the tank holds you should be able to come within a pound or two of the coaches empty weight.

I have a 2003 40 pst and the unloaded weight is 29,517 pounds. This model axles ratings are 23k for the rear axle and 14,600 front. I have scaled my coach fully loaded with my family and towing a volvo xc70 on a trailer and my weights were 12,420 front axle 21,460 rear axle. With the heavy axle ratings in this model I think you will have a hard time overloading it.

Thanks for all of the answers. I appreciate your help. As I may have mentioned, this is a long distance transaction. The salesman told me he spent an hour in the coach looking for the sheet. I hired one of the service techs to spend some time on a video chat with me to review the entire coach and as soon as he opened the wardrobe door, there it was. Unoaded weight is 30,507 on a GVW of 37,600. Should be plenty. Pulled the trigger and will be flying to pick in up in March.

Funny side note, the salesman told me about a week later that after spending time in the Monaco he isn't nearly as impressed with all of the new Thor and Fleetwood DP's on the lot.Says they seem "cheaply made". Ya think??

Congratulations on the 03 Windsor, you have a nice coach.

Ya, the 40' had the beefier axles, wish I had them!! Hope it works out for you.

I'd suggest you look at joining the Monacoers.org site, they have a bunch of sharp people willing to help and a large database of info.
