2004 Beaver Solar Hookup

I have just noticed that my solar cell is connected to the motor batteries not the house batteries. Can I just take the two wires off the motor batteries and connect them to the house batteries or do i have to do something else.

Second question is where have they hidden to solar cell controller I can not find it anywhere.

Bill,

I installed a Xantrex product called the ECHO Charger on my coach. In short it spreads the charging between both battery banks... So if solar is charging my house batteries (factory installed on mine) then the chassis batts also get a share. Like wise if I'm plugged in, it charges both. IMHO it's the simplest (3 short wires) install and it's a solid state device that's fully circut protected. Look it up on Xantrex's website.- bought mine on amazon several years ago.

Hope it helps

I'm guessing you have an IRD system that doesn't charge the chassis batteries while you are in shore power. So the solar panel is keeping your chassis batteries while camping. If you change the solar panel to the house batteries and parked for a few weeks, your chassis batteries can die, while your house batteries are being charged by the inverter.
I'm sure there is a solar control panel somewhere. You will have to flow the wires.

I also installed an echo charger. It keeps the chassis batteries charged off of the charging house batteries while on shore power.
