We have a 2003 windsor, travel the country and no issues other than a new transfer switch and have upgraded the refrig. - added a new wineguard directv, 9 MPG, tow a jeep wrangler - getting ready to trade carpet for hardwood- you cant go wrong with a pre-DEF engine

Just curious, what size motor do you have?

We have an '04 Windsor w/ ISL400. Have only had it for 6 mos.... still working out the systems. Borderline weak. Going to try to have it turned up. Otherwise, love it. The only major thing I would have spec'd differently is the leveling system. Would have preferred HWH hydraulic jacks to HWH air leveling.

I think you're the only person I have ever heard that would take hydraulic over air leveling. When we were looking at coaches if it didn't have air leveling it was a deal breaker for me.

After dealing with sinking jack legs on our previous coaches there is no way I would ever go back to hydraulic leveling jacks again on this heavy of a coach.

I’m no expert (this is my first RV) but I have to agree with you Mike. I’d never own a coach with at least the addition of air leveling. It’s just so easy! I’d hate to have to worry about jacks sinking and/or placing pads underneath them.

In my opinion it seems about 24k-26k pounds seems to be the tipping point on hydraulic levelers for our use. We camp at a few places where you are on hardpack dirt or grass or even asphalt in the heat of the summer at the races. Our last coach weighed in right around 29k pounds and I would chase the level all weekend when we would go to the dunes or the track in the hot summer months. Then when we would go to leave I would have to dig my large lam-beams out of the holes they are forced their way into. What's ironic is my buddy with his 34' Journey weighing in around 24k~ish, with his hydraulic levelers had zero issues at all.

When we started looking in 2006 to upgrade coaches air leveling was one of the things high up on my "must have" list. The first season of RVing with this coach it was so nice to be able to pull down onto the grass at the campground and know when I left I wasn't going to have to dig my blocks out.

I also like the air for when traveling and pulling into a rest area or wide spot in the road and just bump the air to level up while eating lunch and not have to contact the ground with anything but the tires.

To each their own, that's just my take.

Mike

New (to me) Windsor

It's a 2004 40'PKD. Somethings I like about it:
ISL 400hp w/ 2 stage engine brake
Has 2 slides (both on driver side)
Legless Dinette is on passenger side (camp side)
Two couches
Michelin tires are under 2 years old
Air pressure & temp tire monitoring system
New AGM batteries
Both HWH Air & Jack leveling systems
Large Mirage awning
Beautiful Cherry Cabinets
Both Electrical & Water Power hose reels
Keyless Entry
Auto lock/unlock Bay doors
Auto Gen Start
Sleep Number Bed
Polished Alcoa Rims
23,000lb rear axle
One owner coach / stored indoors it's whole life
The RV has lots of other stuff, but those are the feature that stand out for me. Thanks again for everyones input. You helped me to look for certain items and gave me some good information!

Congratulations, it looks like you found a very nice well maintained coach.

Congrats on the new rig! That's a decision that you won't regret!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

I also have an 2004 Windsor and really like it. The only problem is that it is no fun looking at other mh's anymore. Most are not as nice as the Windsor. Good luck with it. Many of us do a lot of work ourselves and this forum is really helpful.
