2004 Windsor Bay Latches

Been having a bit of trouble with the opening of the bay doors on our Coach.
I took the inside plastic cover off and see the latch pulls up the black piece (plunger) to then pull the plastic latch up opening the bay. If you can see on the attached picture I have over 1/4 inch of play before latch starts to pull up on plastic plunger. For a short term fix I could put a bolt and nut in the space to allow more travel for plunger pull up.

Any long term fix or known parts would be appreciated.
Beutler? Windsor Bill?

Thank you,
Tracy

I do not know the symptoms you are having, but I have a 04 Windsor 36 PST and have had problems with the bay doors not opening. However, it is not due to lack of latch movement. The problem is the plastic plunger develops a lip on the bottom outside (side not slant cut). This lip catches and holds the plunger down when pulling on the bay handle. My resolution has been to take my Dremel and remove (sand) the lip smooth with a few gentle strokes. Worked perfectly on three bay doors so far. Hope this helps and good luck.

Here is the parts diagram for the bay door latches for my 2002 Windsor, they are electric. Not sure it is the same as yours but may give you some ideas. I have cleaned and lubed mine which helps.

Thank you both for your input. I’ll be looking at taking it apart further and possibly ordering the replacement plunger. Our 36 PST also has electronic locking/opening with the fob or key pad by the door. To actually open its manual.

Appreciate it!
Tracy

Here is a company that makes latches and repair parts .
The plungers are metal instead of plastic .

One of my doors had a persistant problem. I finally just drilled a hole through the bottom of the latch hole so in an emergency I can push the plunger up to release the door. I have taken this latch apart numerous times and it works for a while and then quits working. A real pain.

Sorry Tracy. They must have changed the locks after your 2004 model. Mine are completely different from your picture.
