2004 Windsor- procedure to manually retract driver side slide
I have a 2004 Windsor with 3 slides. The drivers side slide did not retract this morning. After a bunch of unsuccessful trouble shooting I fiddled with the switch and in it came. I am afraid to put it out again without knowing how to manually retract it in the event that the switch fails again. I plan to have this looked at by a professional (maybe even while traveling on this trip) but I would really like to have a backup plan of knowing how to manually retract this slide. I found what looks like a nut on a shaft connected to a gear in the compartment under the slide, but I don't know if all I do is start turning that nut? Does something have to be released first?
Looking for insight.
Thanks for any help.
David

Do you know the type of slide it is, electric??? Who is the manufacturer??
I have a 2002 Windsor with and electric slide made by Power Gear. There is a motor mounted to the gear box. On the end of the motor there is a lever, the lever disengages the brake and allows you to use a couple wrenches to turn the shaft to move the slide in/out.

Thanks for that. My motor is mounted above the fresh water tank. Very hard to get at. I will look at the motor on the other side (which is conveniently mounted in a cargo bay) maybe that will allow me to see where the break is located.

Okay, it is a powergear and I have located what looks like the lever to disengage the break. I also see the nut on the shaft that I would turn (1/2 wrench) I have the wrench. Now my question is, how hard is it to make this room move with this procedure? Have you ever done it before? This slide is the driverside slide that goes flush to the floor when it is out. It seems to me that it might be a bear to get it to start coming in up over that first hump, but I hope I am wrong. So before I put this slide out again on this trip, I hope to hear if anyone has cranked in this slide before.
Than you for all of the help.

Mine is not a flush floor type but I did have to bring mine in once when the motor failed. It wasn't that hard for me but I am (was) a little bit of a bull in a china cabinet (as my dad use to say).
Good luck

Thanks James. I've got a mobile repair guy coming tomorrow to see if we can find out what's up with this slide. I'll feel much better when I go through some of the electrical trouble shooting. I do feel pretty confident that I could crank the room in if need be. I certainly will be doing it for practice when I get back to back camp. Thanks for the help.
