2005 HR HVAC thermostat question

Hi everyone in IRV2 land, glad I found you.

I have a new to us, 2005 HR Neptune replacing OG duo-therm 600312-321 and installing a new AC / heat pump which comes with new thermostat. I see the duo-therm front thermostat (passenger seat) for front ac also has furnace controller incorporated. (Curious if I need to keep for heat? Does this old Thermostat also control the LP furnace or is my old AC a heat pump too? Confusion sets in as about a second wall thermostat about 4 ft away old Honeywell thermostat 60-90 range. Figure the experts can help me out. Pictures attached.

Yes I am aware of the other issues related to this model, trailing arms and am working thru all the issues one by one. Dash AC vacuum leak, few minor roof dicor fixes, blurry back and side camera, broke. Rocker switches covers, Norcold 821 frig upgrade to 12v compressor, new tires, jumping tack needle, headlight dash dimmer switch. And the list goes on all fun projects.

This forum is great and have searched a found a lot of intel already.

Thanks in advance.
Scott

Do you have more then 1 AC?

Post a picture of the new thermostat.

I installed 2 new Penguin 15K BTU High Capacity heat pumps. They were a direct swap for the old Duotherms but I did have to upgrade the thernostat. Each unit had a circuit board that had dip switches that I had to set using the old one as a guide. In my case the front AC was the one that had the dip switch for Furnace and the wiring for it. Was not a bad job.

Yes there are 2 ac ducked units this 34 PDD neptune. The back bedroom controller looks similar except no option for furnace.
I’m expecting delivery today of the Gree Eco-Cool 15k with heat pump unit so I’ll post controller pictures asap. I’m hoping to use existing thermostat wires to connect new unit (supplier said that will work, manual indicates only requires 4 wires unit to controller.

Still curious how/where to control the LP furnace, still learning all the controls. I’m gathering lots of information but still sifting thru it all.
Thanks

I’m learning and by process of elimination I believe the Honeywell thermostat controls the fan-tastiic vent fan.
Back to the new AC install, with the new AC I will need to keep the existing Duo-therm thermostat to control the furnace. I saw a YT video and followed this path, pulled the control board from the old unit keeping only the 12v functions. I will have two small control boards (old for furnace and new for AC/heat pump) mounted in the ceiling.

Unfortunately my workshop is outside and rain is preventing me from the AC install, keep y’all posted with my progress. At least I know the fan-tactic rain sensor works, let’s me know when the showers start and stop
Thanks
Scott

Good luck,

I know that mixing old & new Dometic AC's of the same manufacturers isn't easy. You have to upgrade the control board on the older one and install a new thermostat. When I was having trouble with the rear 20 year old 13.5K BTU Duotherm I just decided to replace both front and back with new Penguin's 15K BTU heat pumps and a new MicroAir thermostat. The swap went pretty good and one unit will pretty much keep the rig cool in temps below 90F.

I looked the unit you are installing, looks like you don't have to tie the two together and just use the remote control. If you can do that is should work.
