2005 Monaco Executive engine comp door seal

My engine compartment door does not have a gasket or seal or protestant that keeps it from rubbing the fiberglass and wearing through the paint. What type of material is on the coach? Is it a c type of material or just a single side stick on material. I know the struts that hold the door open read not to be used in a high heat area?

I also have and issue with the four latches that keep the engine compartment door closed. Someone put bolts in the latches that should hold the door shut but they do not. One latch has the original hardware on it.

Three of the latches have a bolt screwed in the latch to hold the door shut. The heads are not large enough. The one latch that has the original hardware looks like a big waster on the end of the bolt head that touches part of the fiberglass surface on the body.. So when I would drive the coach the door would open a little. The other three latches only had a regular bolt with a regular head on the latch. It does not make much contact with the body and then the door will vibrate open a little and the one latch with the original hardware was the only Harding the door.. So I temporarily put some large washers on the head of the bolts with nuts to hold the washers tight on the head of the bolts.

does anyone know where I can find the original pieces for the door latched and should there be some type on metal piece on the coach that each latch would contact that would make the latch contact the body of the coach more secure??

Hope it makes sense. Kind of a weird deal but again they all have been.

Thanks to all,

Todd

Engine Cover Latch

These should be your latches. Sounds like someone punched out your locks on the top ones and jerry rigged something. Google just the C5-11-312 parts for finding pricing and shipping. Lots of variables out there.

The rubber strip is flat black about 1/2" wide and 1/8" thick foam type weather strip material...probably Home Depot.

Good Luck with the new rig.
