Hi everyone, I'm new to the site and looking for some advice... me and my better half are looking to purchase our first RV (see title), and wanted to know if anyone can tell us if its a good unit, it has the 8.1 vortec and workhorse chassis. Any advice is welcome. Thanks, Richard

I managed to find the brochure for specs ect.
https://www.yumpu.com/en/document/re...lans-and-specs

The workhouse chassis will get you the Allison 1000 5speed trans. Over the Ford 4speed HD trans in the Ford chassis.
I may get flamed by Ford guys but. I'm both the 8.1 GM will have more torque in lower RPMs. I'm not sure why but having owned mostly GM then Fords I find it easier and usually cheaper to get a larger choice of GM parts in a pinch OTC situation.
Pay attention to tow spec. on both that looks like only 4000lbs. if that will work for you 4down will help some with no real tongue weight.
The Simba was offered in RD model. "rear radiator diesel ??"
That may have the trailing arm issue RECALL aka broken welds doesn't apply to gas chassis. But if your shopping and find one make sure it has been addressed. Upgrade parts were made by Source Engeneering. If not fixed already they REV group are no longer responsible for the recall .
It's 2000 ish DIY to 3000 at shop repair.
Maybe others will be of better help with any possible issues and opinions up in that model year Workhorse chassis or 8.1 Vortec . For the 8.1 not certain of exact years or all ,in back of my mind there may be some exhaust manifold leak issues to give a good listen to before purchase . As well as a rear spark plug wire needing changed more than normal replacement due to trapped heat. I wouldn't call either a deal breaker.
