2005 Navigator Front Brakes

I am getting started on replacing the pads and rotors on my 2005 Nav.

I contacted Rev and got my Axle info Spicer E-1460W but they have no Caliper info.

The number on the caliper is 976087 B and the plug for the adjuster says Haldex.

I have search high and low and can't find anything matching the casting number I have from the caliper.

Anyone else have info to help me out?

i have the same front axle (but a different brand coach) attached is the brake manual for my coach's front brakes. Look at the photos and see if you have the same thing.
Good luck

My brake calipers clearly say Haldex on them.
I have Haldex searching for me to see if they can figure out the caliper and related parts.
Not a single tag on the darn things.

We aso have a Spicer E-1460W front axle. I have not tackled the front brakes yet, but I'm very interested in what you find.
Were you having issues with the brakes, or just trying to be proactive?

Mike, thanks for the service manual.

I picked up this coach in December.
The previous owner didn't know what the jake brake was for and rode the brakes down the Smokey Mountains .
Now they are glazed over and require a lot of force to stop.

So far Haldex says the calipers are from Bendix - even though they say Haldex all over them.

Right now looks like

Haldex ESD-225 is the correct number
The most popular parts include:
  • 790-22012 Pad Kit
  • 790-94049 Caliper Assembly
  • GC2430D Spring Brake Chamber
  • SC20D Service Chamber
Funny thing is - the Bendix number is ESD-225 the same as Haldex.

The Haldex version caliper assy 790-94049 is $1350 but the Bendix version of the same assy K022919 is over $3500!

Trying to verify why the huge difference in price.

Pic of my brake shape to give you an idea of what it looks like from the back.

It appears Haldex stole the Bendix design. Bendix favored in disc-brake patent suit against Haldex | Fleet Owner

However not so relevant since Bendix took over (owns) Haldex now.
http://www.autonews.com/article/2016...akeover-battle

If you go to "Find It Parts" and enter both part numbers, in the Cross Reference section below the description, it show that the parts (the Haldex and Bendix) cross over to the same part numbers. https://www.finditparts.com/products...ldex-790-94049
I would buy two at the $1000 price before they run out.

Wow! Your previous owner must have been related to my previous owner!

Do you really need new calipers, or can you rebuild these and install new pads and rotors?
Is there a place that will rebuild or exchange these calipers?
Do our calipers have the electronic wear sensors and are they the "U-shaped" or splined rotors?

I was told by the shop that checked out the coach that the adjusting screw is frozen tight on both my calipers so I may need the whole caliper.
These calipers may be rebuildable if they are Haldex but Bendix says they are not rebuildable.
I will be taking mine apart in the next few weeks now that I know I can get Parts.
Maybe I can get the adjusters loose by soaking the rust for a week with penetrating oil

Following this thread to educate myself somewhat on air brake operation.

Lots of youtube on these systems such as this ...looks like most can wear issues can be inspected pretty easy.

Took my drivers side apart this weekend.
The problem is water that gets into the caliper housing through a bad seal. Mine was 1/2 full of water after sitting for 3 months. The adjustment mechanism is rusted tight with no chance of breaking it free. Checking to see if I can just buy the guts since the outside housing is just fine.

I just got my brand new Haldex Brake calipers in.

The Haldex version is an exact match to original and cost only $1140 compared to Bendix at $3500.

They showed up in only 2 days too.

Very nice.
Are these new or rebuilt?
Do they charge a core fee?
