Hello Everyone,

I just join the today. My family and I did a lot of camping, taking the long route from a tent to our 1998 Bounder. We have been out of the country since the end of 1998 and currently don't have a rig. However, we have spent a lot of time narrowing it down to the one that is just right for my wife and I. Our first choice is the 2007 Endeavor DP 40 SFT (full-wall slide).

We really like the full-wall slide feature, but have some concerns based on what we have read in the forum and comments from dealers.

I have reviewed several threads talking about the HR/Monaco full-wall slides in the forum, but most of these posts are from 2007 and 2008.

I want to get an update on the performance of the 2007 HR/Monaco full-wall slide owners now that they have had them for another 3-4 years.

I would especially like to hear from some of the SFT owners from 2007 and 2008, like MonacoMama, LewF, Lukeaa, gypsies, SacsTC, and any others that may be new to the forum who have experience with the 2007 HR/Monaco full-wall slides.

Soooooooo...give me shout and let me know if you still love your full-wall slide!!

I do not have a H/R I have a 2008 Knight DFT Full wall slide purchased new in 2009 there have been no problems to date with the operation of the slide outs. The only issue I had is with the slide out seal which had to be replaced due to fingers on the seal rusted out. this is an expensive fix but I had purchased an extended warranty that covered the cost.

Thanks for the feedback. I am really interested in the 2007 HR/M since 2007 was the first year they came out with the full wall slide. Any other comments from the forum?

We have the 2007 Diplomat SFT. We spend about 8 months a year out in it and really like the coach. The only major problems have been:

1. Fuel tank developed a leak at the drain plug. This is a common issue for Monaco coaches around that year. About $800 to drop the tank and weld it up. Extended warranty covered it.

2. Original slide seal metal clamps rust out and the seal falls off. SacsTC found a good replacement that has the metal clamps enclosed in the rubber. No problems since I had that put on last year. About $500 to put a new seal on.

3. Magnum inverter died the first year. No problems since.

4. 8 kw Onan genset inverter died the first. Replaced under warranty. No problems since.

5. MagnaDyne radio is a piece of junk. Currently looking for a replacement. For DVD's, I use my laptop, which has an HDMI output and connect it to the TV. Also good for NetFlix, Vudu, etc.

6. It came with Monroe shocks that die at about 15-20,000 miles. Replace them with Bilsteins. That was about $1,000 as I remember, parts and labor.

7. Some recalls:
a. Norcold reefer. They have an easy fix. Make sure it has been installed.
b. Just heard that the IOTA transfer switch may be a recall issue. I am checking. There is a thread on here.
c. I believed the wiper arms were recalled a couple of years ago. Check that the coach has the beefier arms.

We have about 30,000 miles on the coach and have not had any problems with the big slide other than the seal. We are very happy with the coach. It drives well and lives very well. It only has about 2,500 lbs. of CCC, so watch your weight.

We just arrived home in San Jose tonight, after two months on the road, so if you have any specific questions, let me know.

And last, but not least, go to Monaco Diplomat SFT Robin is the god of diplomat upgrades. He makes my life easier.

Thanks for all the great info. I had read about the seal problem in the forum. This is really good info of things to check before I buy. It sounds like the problems are not too far outside of the norm you would expect from owning any other motorhome.

I'll be sure and check back with you before I buy.

Luke, we traded our 2007 Endeavor 40 SFT a couple of years ago to get a bigger rig. We miss the full wall slide floor plan but our Camelot has a lot of upgraded features so we are happy. Only problem we had was learning to carefully control the slide and make sure the timing between front and back doesn't get out of whack. If it does it is easy to correct by simply holding the retract or extend switch to make sure the rams are at full travel. If it does get out of sync then one end of the other will not seat properly. I would have no trouble with this rig again if it had the room and other features we were looking for.

There are several idiosyncrasies the coach may have so search the site to determine how deal with them - support for the leveling jacks hydraulic tank, shocks (we put Konis on ours), wipers should have had a recall done on them to replace motor I think, and of course you will have the recalled refer you must get fixed if it hasn't been done.

MH-HR : we don't have an Endeavor, but we have a 2008 Monarch 33 SFS with the full wall slide. Ours was manufactured in December 2007 and then sat in the lot til we bought it in July 2008. I believe it's the same slide construction and mechanism as on the diesel coaches. The slide is 24 feet of the total 34-foot length. Never a problem with the slide or the mechanism, or the seal leaking (touch wood I'm not jinxing us now!).

We really appreciate the extra space it gives us. Only problem related to the slide was when our slide cover ripped and needed to be replaced, but that was user error. Nobody told me not to drive on the highway during 60-mph wind gusts... Those slide covers are expensive when they're not covered under warranty.

Oh, we also had a hilarious problem related to the full wall slide while camped in Las Vegas: a couple of birds decided to build a nest on top of the slide under the cover. Of course they didn't build their nest at the end where we could reach it. NO! They decided to build the nest exactly in the center of the slide, or 12.5 feet from either end. Much as we love all living things we had to get rid of them so we could retract the slide and drive home, and we ended up using three broom handles duct-taped together to pull the nest back out. Our neighbor loved the show, and politely suggested that we cover the ends when we camp. We've never done that, but we've never had that problem again.
