2007 Knight DFT Full Wall Slide Topper Support Hardware
The topper support arm hardware that runs the full length of the slide has come apart and is interfering with the movement of the full wall slide. I'm thinking I want to remove this apparatus altogether. If i do, what other problems might I encounter? Is this a bad idea?

Are you meaning to remove the topper itself? I had that idea a few years ago and tried it. I was cautioned against it on here and they were right. Wouldn't recommend it, as I got dirt/leaves/etc on the topper and stuck in the joint at the top. Also allowed water to blow into that joint and down inside. All in all, cleaning up was more work than fixing the topper and its hardware, I'd say.

No, the topper will remain. Under it is a metal framework that pops up as the slide opens to hold the topper up all along its length.

Drifter: thanks for your helpful response. Is it correct for me to assume from your post that if I do away with the center support hardware, then I would need to modify the mounting brackets to create a greater awning pitch???
There seems to be an adequate pitch now that is not affected by the center support hardware. In your photos I do not see any evidence of the center hardware having been removed such as exposed mounting holes. Armed we talking about the same thing?

What I was thinking is the center prop that you are talking about folds out in the center of the awning when you open the side, If so then you would be in much better shape to repitch and tighten the awning. You can do this by either changing the awning brackets with new ones or modify what you have. I modified ours before Carefree came out with there new style. You may be able to see what I'm talking about if you take a look at a 2010 or 2011 coach with a full way slide.

Now on my list of 'must do' projects! Thanks for sharing.
Drifter, how did you affix the screw cover? A tad of glue of some sort?

When you use either the new or modified brackets you can not see the brackets, so the screw covers are not needed. The bracket mounting location on the slide face never changes with the changed brackets.

Stan,
That was a gadget used for awhile to help water drain. You should be able to remove it without harm. I don't think it is used on most coaches with full wall slides or any other slides for that matter.
