there are a lot of stuff to look for...long list. Roof sealant around ever hole, inside for water damage, listen to slide outs operate, operate EVERYTHING in the coach, listen for air leaks with engine off, Look at air bags for cracks, and shocks, drive it on surface streets and at freeway speeds, use exhaust brake, watch all gauges, and the list goes on and on. If you want it after all get a pro to inspect it. Look up AZtech on youtube.

When I was shopping I ran a car fax on every coach I considered.
By all means if it qualifies in your eyes get a reputable inspector to do a full inspection!
Open every door, every cupboard, every closet, test every system, Aqua Hot fire it up, the exhaust should be clean burning, try to get there early and do a cold engine start and watch what color the exhaust is, imo a cold engine start is mandatory!
Ask and look at maintenance records…….
Is this a private or dealer sale?

Jiffy splices and slide bottom corners would be two biggies.
If you look up the manual for the transmission you could see if there are any codes using the shifting panel.
See if the Aladdin system is working. You could also use it to show the current seller that it doesn't get as good of mpg as he thinks..... lol

I've had my 2008 Camelot 40' PDQ since I picked it up at the dealer after I ordered it. I haven't done 10% of the things that were previously mentioned. The 08's had an issue with the windshield cracking so I had a "halo kit" installed at the factory after mine cracked. Maintenance records are very important not only for the engine and transmission but also for running gear and Aqua-Hot. My carpet needs to be replaced but I'm waiting until I return home to have that done. Tire age is important so read the date codes on each tire. The PS side of my coach has fiberglass checking but I use the 10' rule on that as the cost to replace the fiberglass, paint and labor is prohibitive for me. I replaced all the original light bulbs with LEDS. Load check the batteries, both coach and chassis. I replaced the original Sani-Con pump with the new turbo 600 which empties the black tank faster than a slinky. The 08 should have an engine not requiring DEF so check that. When I ordered my rig I stipulated I wanted a 2006 motor so no DEF. There are a lot of 08 Monacos out there with non DEF motors. You have enough stuff to check so good luck with your journey.

In regards to maintenance records, if you look at the records and see things that might have been worked on and are not on the maintenance records dig a bit deeper, maintenance records are just paper and ink and they don’t all have to be shown to you! You’d never really know!
Just to many things!
Best of luck to you!

Dstrider-
Many coaches have "class" problems. Monaco and HR coaches of that era:
1) are prone to slide floor rot. This is a well-known problem; there are lots of threads on it. A common place for rot to occur is at the front, outer edge of the slide floor on the driver's side. The floor will be mushy when pushed up from the outside, and there will be a gap between the white plastic material and the lower edges of the slides- the gap being the place were water gets in. The gap allows the plastic to tear, too. Rot can be fixed, and Guardian Plates applied.
2) are prone to clear coat failure on the full-body paint coaches. This usually starts on the upper edges of the front and rear caps, then moves downward. Damaged areas can be sanded and repainted.
3) may have leaks along the upper "beltrail." These can cause water damage to the floors below the driver and passenger front windows. The fix is to refasten the joint under the beltrail. It is either time (for the do-it-yourselfer) or money (pay someone else).
Some coaches will have some of these problems. Mine has had all three.
Don't let these "class" problems keep you from buying a Camelot. They were fairly well-made, according to reports from owners. The 2008 Camelot brochure is here.

Youtube video covering 3M removal (not diamond shield)
Orange Sol contractor solvent, Plastic scrapers that look like chisels. plastic razors blades. assorted sand paper that you can stick on the side of MH. You'll use this to constantly sharpen your favorite chisel. Heat gun in one hand, chisel in the next you just try and catch the edge correctly and peel off the film. This takes 10 plus hours. After the film is removed it still looks the same because all the glue and mildew is still there. Start spraying the orange stuff and scrape and clean. This takes another 10 hours or so. Looks like new when done if you're lucky.

Look up “Ugly Shield”. You can get instruction via his You Tube videos and solvent, etc all from him. A word of caution though. I tried to do it myself and had a terrible time. Spent over $100 in materials and about 8 hrs of time to make a mess of it. I wound up having the whole front end stripped and repainted (because I gouged paint) for $4000.
In hindsight I should have let Ugly Shield in Fort Myers, Fl do it for $1200.
Good luck.

40 PDQ chassis
I have a 2002 Monaco Windsor. Great coach. If you have a side radiator, remove the 6 screws holding the side cover. Inspect for any rocks that might be wedged between the radiator and the shroud. I had one wedge in there and it rubbed a hole through the cooling tube causing a leak. $1700 later I was back on the road. What I did to fix the problem was bend the shroud away from the radiator by about 1/2". I then filled the gap with automotive silicone. If a pebble gets in there again, it will just lay there and eventually fall out the back. 30 minutes checking can save mucho dinero. Mike

How did you discover the dash air leak. I have a slow leak somewhere. Could it be the dash air gauge?

Be sure to check for delamination. The area between the side roof radius rail where it meets the top of the sidewall on both sides of the coach. The rail runs the whole length of the coach on both sides. Make sure you get Boatlife waterproof clear caulk and do the top and bottom of the rails from the front of the coach to the back. This is a notorious area for water intrusion. Also the road side slide floor, check for mushy floor on each end. Install Talon Plates before you have a problem on all slides.
