Far be it from me to tell someone what to buy but here's how it went for us when we transitioned from a fifth wheel to a motorhome in 03. I didn't listen to our salesman when we bought our Vacationer. His advice was:

Buy your 3rd motorhome first. You'll be money ahead.

We bought the gas Vacationer anyway. Don't get me wrong, it was a good coach, but not what we wanted. We got lucky and sold it 2 years later for a very good price. We still lost money but were thousands ahead of where we would have been had we traded.

We then got our Ambassador because of its increased living area and the 8 air bag chassis (a real biggie for me). Plus, we thought it was a darn nice coach with its Liz Claiborne interior. Did we buy our 3rd one on the second try? Maybe and we are very happy with our coach, but, man, when I look at a Sceptre, well, you know the feeling.

Actually, our next coach may be a gently used 1 or 2 year old model (Monaco, of course). Just something else to think about.

Sounds like a fun... um, "theoretical" question, about what if's and such... and it's exactly how we've bought each of our last two coaches. And, I think we bought our 3rd coach on our 3rd try. But we loved our 2nd coach, for the record! Good luck, Rick and Mic, can't wait to see what you decide on!
