2008 Monaco - anyone ever replace the Sharp TV?
I have a 2008 Knight and the front TV is going out. I will need to replace it soon. Has anyone out there done this? Which TV did you use?
I noticed that the TV is connected to a metal frame that is connected to the wooden cabinet. Will this restrict the brand/model of TV? There are a lot of wires going to this TV and the new one will need the needed connections. Appreciate any advice.

I have not replaced mine yet but ours seems to be going as well. Occasionally it just goes off and comes back by itself. Almost like a power reset but nothing else in the coach is affected. Is your situation similar? I have looked at the Sony and Samsung mdels and believe I can fit those into the cabinet. The aluminum bracket just fastens to the wall hanging bolt holes in the back of the TV. I think I will need to drill new holes through the Aluminum bracket as the TV bolt holes are different. It may be easier to remove the entire bracket to measure and drill new holes. The wires are standard audio and video connections that will connect the same as the old TV. Good luck and let me know how your old one is failing.

Sorry Steve, I didn't address the TV fit. I measured the overal outside dimensions to make sure it will fit and still have the remote sensor in the clear (mine is mounted externally). Then I measured the thickness of the unit. That is where I determine whether that aluminum bracket need to move slightly back or forward for the fit. It might take a helper and use some shims under the TV to set it in place before you attempt to run new scews in the cabinet. You will notice 2 screws on each side on an angle into wood.

Ted,
When I turn on the unit in the morning sometimes I get a picture and other times no. I turn it off and then on until I get one. I have seen red and yellow across the screen with no image. Doesn't seem to do this when it is warmer in the day. When you looked at a TV are you looking at an led or LCD? The led is lighter and thinner.

Have replaced our Sharpe with a Samsung. I measured the cabinet it fits in, and was lucky enough to find one that fit within a 1/2 in. Purchased new TV from Best Buy. I had to modify the brackets to mount the new TV. I did have to build brackets for the two side speakers. They are not in use at the present time. It is much lighter than the sharpe. Now all I need to do is find someone to hook up surround sound.

Steve,
I am looking at the LCD because the size is more similar to the old one. I think these component TVs can't take the abuse they get. We did Alaska this spring/summer and that trip beat up and shook loose systems and components in the coach. But... that's what keeps things interesting. The surround sound isn't that important to us. Our DVD/CD player quit and the stereo never has been very good and we use the lousy Magnadyne dash radio anyway. Audio and video has different importance levels to different people so take my opinoins with a grain of salt.

What Samsung model did you get? Looked at Visio and Samsung today at Sams Club. They don't seem to have th same number of connections in the rear compared to the Sharp. These units seem to by 720 dpi. Want 1080. Any suggestions about specific models?

tv replacement
Hi, we have a 2006 endeavor with the awful sharp aquos tv in a computer unit facing the couch. We went to brandsmart and got a panasonic led 42 inch tv. Of course it wouldn't fit inside the cabinet, so we took the old tv out, got a board, attached the bracket and covered the face of the cabinet with the new tv. I feel like I am at the movies, I love the tv, it covers the old cabinet and the sides and back are accessible. Did the same thing in the bedroom with a 32 inch one, what a difference, it doesn't matter if the tv is in front of the cabinet or inside, it looks great.

Hit the road. Do you have cabinets next to the TV? If so, ow do you have room for a 42 inch tv mounted to the front without hitting the side cabinet doors?

I recently replaced mine with a 32" Insignia from Best Buy. As stated before, the bracket will take some modifications. Also, the outside dimensions are much small than the old sharp so I had to have a new outer wood frame made. Once the bracket is "modified" it is a pretty easy job but will require 2 people.

biddomino, I replaced my sharp 26 flat with a sony 32" LED. I used the same steel frame. I had to cut a couple of vent holes to match the sony and expand the connection area a little. When I mounted the tv to the metal frame I just measured the holes on the new sony and drill to match on the metal frame. Easy job, just take your time. The new sony was thinner so I just remounted the frame closer to the front. I then took apart, cut, and rescrewed the frame. I then painted it gloss black to match the front of the TV and it looks great. Good luck with your project.
PS: I used a 4" cut off wheel to modify the frame.

I am wondering if anyone else has mounted a larger tv on the front of the cabinet?
