2008 Monaco Signature

I am looking at a 2008 Monaco Signature and want to know if they still made it on the S-series chassis, semi monocogue, as late as 2008.

Yes,
Here is a link to the brochure
https://www.monacocoach.com/resource...21_brc_pdf.pdf

You can download other year/models here.

The Signature, Executive, Dynasty, were on the S chassis. The Windsor was until 2002.

Yes. You can go to the Monaco website and look at the brochures to see what the standards and options were.

Need to watch front axle weight with 295 front tires and full of fuel might already be over front axle weight limit. That would be the weak link in the chassis.

Around 06 Monaco moved the fuel tank to the 2nd bay (not right behind the front axle) taking a fair amount of weight off the front axle. With the heavier engine/tranny and a 23K drive axle you do not have to run as much air in the tag’s airbags, putting less weigh on the front axle. 295s will handle the weight with 115 psi...well under the axles 14,600 rating.

Front axle weight was more of a problem with my Dynasty...fuel tank behind the axle and 20K drive axle so I went to 315s on the front which reduces the psi 10 lbs. Liked the 315 so much I put them on the Navigator and use 105 psi.

My 2007 Signature fuel tank is in the 3rd bay. The weight on that axle when full of fuel & loaded up for travel is just under 14,600

How big are your first 2 bays? Mine is over 4’ wide...fuel tank in back of 2nd, propane tank in front of it.
What are your rear axle weights? Sounds like you may be running to much air in your tag’s airbags.

Wayne, aside from the talk about fuel tanks and other issues, yes, Monaco used the S-10 chassis on their Signature line in 2008 as well as Dynasty and Executive. The "S10" is their Roadmaster Semi-Monocoque chassis with tag axle. The "10" refers to the two airbags per wheel position on steer and drive axle plus two more for the tag. There were other Monaco coaches with tag axles for that year using the RR-10 chassis.

The 2008 signature is a great coach as many here will tell you. There can be some issues with different ISX engine options and the Kongsberg Chassis Mux system which others can tell you more about.

As with any used coach you are advised to hire a qualified diesel mechanic to inspect chassis and get engine oil and trans fluid samples analyzed. Good idea to check out other systems particular to the coach, such as aquahot.

If you have more questions, there are many here who will help. Don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks all, What drew my wife and I to the Monaco line is the interiors. They appeal to our taste, warm, great colors and layouts, fantastic woodworking and detail. We are now taking longer trips from a few weeks to over a month, and would like to do even longer. We both agreed they are interiors we could live in for a couple months at a time. Have to admit though, the ISX issues makes me a bit nervous. Spent last night reading 20 pages of ISX valve thread. Will have to study it more.

Having owned a 04 Dynasty for 14 years (it’s still in the family) it gives the most bang for the buck on the S-10 chassis. Price wise the Executive is next, then HR Navigator, and Sig at the top... all on the S-10. Dynasty has 1200-1250 torque while the other 3 have 1600+.

If you are not 6’+ a older rig (lower ceiling biggest difference) with a DD60 engine (second choice Cummins ISM) would be my choice knowing what I know now.

I haven't seen a reference I can remember to a S-10 chassis. Everything I remember refers to an S Series Chassis? Is there an S-8?

I have 100,000 miles om my ISX600 with no problems to date.

BTW Ivylog, I haven't gone out to measure the compartments or check the weight sheet but I did look at the Signature brochures through 2009 and they all seem to show the fuel tank in the first bay behind the steer. That is certainly not correct.

Hypoxia, good to see you have gone 100,000 miles on your ISX with no problems.
