2012 Monaco Knight 40DFT

I currently have a National RV and am looking to upgrade to a 2012 Monaco Knight 40DFT, any advise or issues I need to be aware of?
Both of the units I am looking at are new 2012's which seems unusual at they could be new so long on the lot's.

I have looked at a couple Monaco also--both new on lots- the reason I found that they are still on the lot is because they have the International motor in them.

International owned Monaco for 4 years I think. While international owned them they put their motors in them. Most all other RV's have Cat or Cummins motors.

I asked the question on the Monaco forum back in January about the motors. Seemed to me that the people that have them are getting along fine with them. I just didn't get my deal worked out on one yet. If you make good enough deal. The depreciated value of the motor won't really matter.

We have a 2012 Monaco Knight 36PFT. No issues with the International (aka Navistar) MaxxForce 10 engine other than a couple of updates to the ECM. The only problem with having this engine is one of perception. The engines have been around for a long time in trucks but a short time in Motorhomes. Monaco coaches have been getting this engine since 2011 through early 2014 when sold to ASV and production stopped. They do not require DEF so in that respect they have an advantage. Cat's haven't been available for highway use since 2009 I think so the only choices are Cummins or International.
Go for it!

Hi Lat26, we have a 2013 Monaco Diplomat and have been really happy with it, they have been great on any warranty issues, and the Maxxforce Engine has worked as it is suppose to.

Here's a link to a thread of mine on the Maxxforce 10 you'll especially want to read OutNArounds comment on page 2. He has some excellent advice on this engine. Which should help in making a decision.

Being a leftover 2012 you should be able to get one heck of a good price on it.

There's a lot of good info in the Maxxforce Engine section too. You can find that here.
