2012 Monaco Knight 40DFT Water Pump

Clearly the manual states that when on city water it does not matter if the water pump is on or off. However in the week I have owned this RV is seems that I have to turn the water pump off to get the city water to flow through the system, otherwise with city water on and pump on, it only uses tank water?
Am I doing something wrong?

The water control valve must be in the City Water position. If not the City Water will fill your tank. Other than that there is no other valve in the system that will do what you describe. But something could be plumbed wrong...

On my coach, any time I use the pump, the water from the pump comes from my tank. If on city water and I turn on the pump, I get more pressure and more volume. Part of the pressure is provided by the city water tap and part is from the tank, pushed into the pipes by the pump. Are you sure you are only taking water from the tank in this situation? My guess is you are using water from both, but only noticing the tank usage.

The only time I use the pump while hooked to a city water tap is when the city water tap has too low pressure to take a hot steamy shower. In this situation I turn on the pump during the shower. Then I have to monitor the tank level and when low, switch the valve to let the city water refill the tank.

If the water pressure is sufficient out of the tap, I never turn the pump on. Why would I want to? I save the wear and tear on my pump and let the city water pump do all the work.

Water Pump

Thanks, I have found that I can just turn the pump off when on city water. And you may be right perhaps water is coming out of tank and city supply when pump is on.

If you are experiencing low flow when connected to city water only and you are using one of those cheep RV regulators then it's probably the regulator. Remove it and see what happens.
