2500 Allison Trans. Filter Question

I'm getting ready to start a 2500mi road trip and just realized that the spin on transmission filter requires changing. I don't have time to get the coach in to have it done so am going to have to do it myself. I bought the filter, filter wrench, and a gallon of trans-syd. It looks pretty straight forward, the mechanic where I bought the supplies reminded me to clean the magnet and to fill the new filter prior to installing. Is there anything else I should be aware of? How much fluid should I expect to lose? being that the pan is lower than the filter I'm hoping just what is in the filter. Any tips or advice would greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance...

When I changed mine (same tranny) there was very little fluid lost. Very easy to change just spin the old filter off and the new one on. Like the mechanic suggested, do not forget the magnet. Good luck. Chad

I could not find the filter # in my manual, but from what I read and from what the parts person said I bought a filter Allison filter # 27937979. Old one came off and new one went on with no issue. Very little fluid loss as predicted.... Thanks
