I am another owner with an EMS. I plug it in and let it worry about what to do. I have been a couple of days in a site with 30 amps. The water heater goes off when the heat pump comes on. I have a surge protector that tells me I am pulling 35 amps, but the EMS says it's only 27.
If you have an EMS, use it. Unless you go nuts with a toaster, hair dryer, coffee maker, frying pan, etc. You should be OK.
If you don't have an EMS, another solution would be to isolate the leg of 50 amps that powers one of the heat pumps and connect it to a second circuit.
