It is about 6 minutes in length and shows the pressure washer in action. If you can find it you might want to watch the video. Takes some of the hard labor out of the job!
I will search for it. How did we ever get anything done before YouTube videos!

Thanks

Has anyone tried a high pressure (3500 psi) power washer?
It may take off the paint as well as the mask!

Thanks
My 3300 PSI pressure washer takes the clear shield right off. (slowly) But it leaves all the sticky adhesive behind. That's where I am right now, using solvents and plastic razor blades to scrape all the adhesive off. It's taking forever!!

I posted a video on the main forum last year if you can find it. Maybe search under my name???

Used this for years in the bodyshop. Made to do exactly what you're trying to do. Heat gun off the plastic. This lifts the glue afterwards. Won't hurt the paint and takes a lot of the mess out of the job. Not cheap, but nothing 3m sells is.

Ugly Mask Removal

We took it to the guys in Florida. We stayed over in a very cool retro motel and picked it up the next day.

We have a 2006 Beaver.

We had them remove the mask, completely seal the roof and detail the outside of the coach. Too much for us to do. We wanted to get to the fun stuff.

Then Covid hit 😂

Xylene, brute strength and ignorance. Keeping the heavy duty plastic scraper was very important. Had a sanding pad glued to a board. The scraper was about 1/3 the length when done.

I used the 3m solvent and it barely touched the glue. Pressure washer damaged the paint in a couple of places. Heat gun helped a bit but parking in the direct sun it gets very hot anyway. I ached and used my pain pills for sure. What a job.

Wow, what a job for sure, how did you touch up the damaged paint?

This COVID-19 stuff stinks for sure! If you mind me asking what do they charge for the mask removal?

The adhesive remover is not a solvent. Drys it out , doesn't wet it. The solvent is no different than goof off.

I found the video I did when I started to remove the Diamond Shield or 3M mask from my diesel pusher. You can see it here.

https://youtu.be/G9W6RaZ-pXE

One thing to note, the pressure washer did a great job on the silver. It even took off most of the adhesive as well as the clear mask. But on the grey and black it left ALL of the adhesive and I'm having to scrape it off with chemicals and a plastic razor blade.

Good luck!!!

Shootist,

Thanks for the information, that’s a great handle too!
Being an ole Arkansas boy I do love my shooting irons.

Easyrider,

I was hoping the pressure washer would do it all, well at it did a good portion.

Thanks
