I agree with Ed. It's all well and good to put a drain in the compartment, but before doing that, I would want to know the hows and whys of the water getting in there in the first place. Until I knew how the water was getting in there, and whether it was a real problem or not, I'd be concerned that installing a drain is only masking the problem, not fixing it.
I can think of several ways the water could get in -- road spray kicked up by the tires, a leaking compartment door seal, a plumbing leak, or a roof/wall/slide/window body leak. Some have more dire consequences than others, but any of them could be a problem. Water and electricity don't play well together, and I wouldn't think water getting into an electrical compartment would be a good idea.
