96 Holiday Endeavor converter location
Hey everybody! We bought a used 96 holiday endeavor. We have had a lot of issues that we have somehow managed to fix. Now we are told that we may have a bad converter after being told we could use a new ATS. The question is where would we find the converter? Ours is not located where the power cord comes from the coach.
Thanks in advance...

It is usually part of the fuse/circuit breaker panel or just behind it. Ours in under the bed. Remove the mattress, remove the plywood cover/support and you have easy access.

Look at your house batteries and there should be wire coming to it and going from them. The Converter is usually as close as possible to the batteries so you should be able to trace these wires to find the location.

New to all this
Welcome to the forum.
My converter was at least 20'from my batteries. The batteries were under the entry steps and the converter was under bedroom drawer. An inverter is usually much closer.
I've moved this to the Monaco forum to see if we have a member with a similar MH.

Mine is newer that yours but perhaps they are the same. Mine is located in the compartment just ahead of the power cord compartment.

Ours ('97 37' Endeavor) is in the lower compartment just ahead of the entry door, in back of the RF wheel. This puts them about 6-8' to the rear of the coach batteries, which are located in front of the RF wheel.
If whoever you are talking to can't tell you for sure, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that you need a transfer switch or a converter, that conversation should end immediately, and a hunt for competent help should resume. These items are EASILY tested through fairly simple troubleshooting. Easy for competent tech anyway.
What, exactly, are you having trouble with, isn't working?

We found it! It was located in the under compartment to the right of the front door. It was definitely not working. We were having a problem with the lights going dim, hot water not heating, things like that. I read a lot and discovered the converter issue. We are plugged into shore power, to a power pole, 30 amp.
We are still having a problem with the bedroom ac. When you turn it on all it does is make a click sound. It won't come on with the shore power or the gen.
Any ideas?

Thanks for the update. The AC thermostat needs 12volt power as well as 120.

How much time are you giving it to come on? Will it work on fan only? There are time delays built into the circuits that will sometimes take their darn sweet time. Designed to avoid big power surges in the system, they can be frustrating. Seems like they may take up to 5 minutes maybe?
There's not a lot to that converter. You're pretty sure it's bad?

We are plugged into a power pole and have a new converter. These are what allow for 12v and 120 right?

Both 12v and 110v go through a series of switches, relays, and circuit breakers, not to mention other connections, prior to reaching their destination. If you are plugged in and have a new converter, and have "stuff" that doesn't work, it's time to do some trouble shooting with a test light or voltmeter to figure out why.
Throwing parts at it can get expensive, and there's no assurance proper repair of the problem even needs a part. It could be as simple as a bad connection.

Yep. We took it off. Reseated the wires which has come loose, changed the fuses which were blown, plugged it back in and nothing.
So does anyonr have any ideas on the ac just clicking? Not even the fan will come on, it doesn't matter how long we leave it on.
It wont come on with the generator on anymore either. Same thing happens, just click, like it wants to come on but isnt.
