97 Monaco Signature

Do not know if I am posting right. This is the first. Looking at a 97 Monaco. Signature with 153000 miles on it. Outside looks good, inside leak around the vent other than that for the age looks pretty good. What issues should I be looking for

I have a 1996 Monaco Signature and 153,000 miles would not bother me at all (mine has about 100,000 on it and is still not broke in,,LOL). I don't think there is one area you can focus on really. All I know is that I work on this one constantly and you will for that matter on any coach. I keep a folder in my phone titled "Monaco Repairs" and I add and delete as I go along. Monaco in those days were really well made. Their wiring was a nightmare but once you get it straightened out it's only minor problems. I would go through and service everything so you start fresh and know what has been done. Check your brake pad wear before you start out and keep an eye on it (153,000 is a area for new pads if they have not already been done) brake rotors are expensive and takes a lot of labor to change. Feel free to ask any questions as I have "learned" this thing inside and out.

Thank You. It will be a learning experience for sure. The husband is mechanical incline so that will help. We have a gasser now, We will have them check out the pads and rotors. Appreciate all the information.

Service Records are a real plus...It's maintenance, maintenance, maintenance, say it a couple more times to be sure you remember it!!!! Smile
There's 2 oil filters (engine and geny), 3 fuel filters (2Xengine & geny) 1 water filter, 2 transmission filters, 1 air dryer filter, 3 hydraulic filters..plus one is talking gallons of fluid (of each type), not quarts!!!!
Not to scare you...but be aware....we're talking about $500 if DYI...I wouldn't be surprised to hit $ 1K if subed out, depending on quality of fluids used (Synthetic"s are the pro's choice)
Better that it's been used vs a low mileage storage queen, but either way, think: maintenance, maintenance, maintenance, say it a couple more times to be sure you remember it!!!! Smile
Good Luck & Happy trails

Thank You! I have researched some and do realize dp takes lots of fluids. We will have a lot to learn. This one is a repo, the people gave it back because of illness. Do not know if there are any service records. We seen books in cabinet for the coach but did not go thru them. I read somewhere that they can test the engine. I would want that done and will have pads checked. The main thing that worries me is engine and transmission. Costly fix... The outside looks good. Inside needs a little work, but that is the fun part. Smile Smile!! It does not have a slide so we won't have that to worry about. Seems to be plenty of room for two of us. Mainly outside all the time. I am for sure if we decide to go with this we will have more questions.. I always have a smile... Thank You:-)

If you can do test's have the engine oil and the trans fluid tested. Not a huge cost but they can tell you whats in the fluids and how they think the "health" of the units are at the time.
