'98 Dynasty 40' Air Bag replacement

I was wondering if anyone has changed out the air bags in a '98 Dynasty 40ft no slides.
How difficult? Any tricks? Don't do it - bring to a shop?
It looks like the front and rear are different style bags. It might be tough to get to the tops of a few.

I'm thinking these could be the originals.
It's a roadmaster Model R-1300 chassis.

Jeff,

I've replaced one air bag on my 2000 Dynasty with S series chassis. It was the one in front of the rear wheel and by far the hardest to access on my coach. It's not a difficult or complicated job, but it does take some physical strength and stamina along with some mechanical ability and an assortment of tools. I needed regular wrenches, stubby wrenches, and sockets with several extensions and different size ratchets. Here's the thread:

http://www.irv2.com/forums/f115/air-...ks-313005.html

Here's the link to Firestone's air spring guide:

http://firestoneip.com/-/media/www/f...tcat_smweb.pdf

It's my experience (limited though it is) that Monaco used two air springs--a W01-358-9376 (page 15), which is a reversible sleeve type and W01-358-6905(page 104), which is a convoluted style air bag. The W01-358-9376 looks to be used where both air springs are the same front and back, and a combo of W01-358-6905 in the front and W01-358-9376 in the back where they are different.

You should be able to read the model number of the air bag on the side of the air bag itself. It's a little difficult to see when the air bag is on the coach and depends on the orientation of the bag itself. The reversible sleeve air bags can rotate 360 degrees on the mount so it could be facing any direction.

There are a lot of threads on air bags here in this forum, click on the search this forum and search for "bags" or "springs".

Since the bags are probably the originals and are showing surface cracks on the exterior, should they be replaced or should I wait until I have a problem?
Does a bag usually leak first when there is a problem or would it just go out completely?
I assume if the bag goes out completely, you can't drive it? Or can you drive it home then have it fixed?

Thanks

My air bags have small exterior cracks, but still hold air. I cut open the bag I replaced and the inside looked surprisingly good given the condition of the outside.

I thought about biting the bullet and replacing all the bags, but decided to replace them as needed.

Most bags usually leak first and a slow leak at that.

You will have an issue if a bag goes flat, the rig will probably not be drive-able since the wheel will hit the wheel liner or something else in most cases. I've heard of people using a 4X4 to raise the coach off the wheel to limp to a repair center.
