'98 Dynasty - House batteries charged by alternator?

I was wondering if the engine alternator charges the house batteries while driving?
I know the house batteries are charged while the generator is on or plugged into shore power.

Thanks,
Jeff

It should.

Look for a battery isolator like this.

This looks to be the battery isolator, correct?

What is the best way to see if I am getting a charge from the alternator/battery isolator to the house batteries?

Thanks

With voltmeter in hand, chec NJk voltage at the batteries (Engine not running, not on shore power). You should read between 12v to 12.6 v. Now start the engine and check battery voltage again. You should now have a reading of 13.9 - 14.5v. Let us know how you make out.

Yes - It is working. 12.3 without and 14.4 with the engine on.

Thanks for the fast response.

Jeff your altanator will first charge the chassis battery when it is charged then it will switch to the house battery

Not with that isolator system. Both banks charge together.
