99 Diplomat Slide Issue

Here's a new one...

We were bringing in the slide tonight and hear a loud "pop" or bang. Suddenly, the slide would not go in or out on the side closest to the bathroom.

The side closest to the driver's seat will move. We don't want to keep trying, for fear we'll break something else.

Anyone have any idea what this could be?

Many thanks.

Thanks for the help. You're in Reno; ironic, as we were preparing to head to Las Vegas.

Do you remember any details about your slide motor or where you purchased it?

I know we had a bolt shear in the slide a couple of years ago, but it wound up being fairly easy and cheap to replace. I'm really hoping that's what happened here and it's NOT the entire motor.

I had it replaced in Susanville Ca. 2 years ago. You may want to try Visone RV wrecking, for used. (I used to live in the SF valley).

Thanks again for the info. I'm familiar with Visone. If it turns out to be the motor, we may go that route. Or eBay.

Any chance you might remember what service company you used in Susanville?

Again, many thanks to you and to everyone who has kicked in info thus far.

Thanks, Terry! Sacramento and that region isn't far off our travel plans, all things considered. We'll be giving him a call once we get the slide in and we're on the road.

Sounds like a bolt sheared off, easy to determine, there are several bolts on the drive shaft, see if that,s your issue.

In keeping with our personal policy of posting the solution...

Hi, Rburian, you're correct: it was a sheared-off bolt.

The slide has been repaired and is fully-working again.

Thank you to everyone who provided info and assistance...as always! Safe travels to all of you, with our gratitude.
