Were you able to bring it back in?
There are many possible issues but for this.. Well, Hope you got a thick bank account (motors last I checked were $400.00 and that was a while back)
Story: Gent came to me "HELP" his awning was out and would not retract (A&E Weather pro) so i got my 'tools' and went to check.. Yup, just like yours, Do not know if it clicked,
Hooked up the bypass cord (Bypasses the controls) it's in your manuals bag, or should be (his was not) and .. It clicked
Batteries checked as good, so that's not it.
Finally had no choce but to go to the manual method (NOTE This does break a motor lead). That worked, got it stowed for the coming storm and called the pro.
She found the motor was burned out... So put in a new one.. And it promptly failed.. Found the controls were bad and had failed to shut off when the motor stalled like they are supposed to.. So they replaced both the Motor AND the controller.... Kind of nice for her.. No cost to him (Warranty)
You can try "Assisting" the motor. .that works with mine
Lubrication may be indicated once you get it working.
Another issue I've seen.... Where the canvas meets the aluminum there is a "loop" in the canvas and a plastic "insert" (this is basically screen door ribing, used to secure the screen in a storm door or window) On mine it "moved" exiting a bit out the "Back" end of the awning, wrappign around teh shaft and jamming rather well... Easy fix. Though putting it back in did not happen.. (I did something else) and it is now secured.
