A/C puzzler

With 3 a/c's running off generator all is good. On 50 amp shore power one unit shuts off after a few seconds and runs on fan only. RV park manager put meter on pedestal and showed me how amperage on one leg fluctuates wildly. He felt sure that the problem was a loose or corroded ground.

I can spell electricity but thats the limit of my expertise in this area. Do others concur with his diagnosis? If not where else might trouble be? I have a 2004 Monaco Dynasty.

Turn off the generator and disconnect from the pedestal. This is important because if you don't you are dealing with live circuits, not a good thing! Open up the transfer switch and inspect it. The transfer switch switches between generator and shore power. If everything is good on generator power and not on shore power, the only difference is the power cable and the position of the contractors in the transfer switch.

Yeah, on his power grid!
I would'nt touch anything till I hooked up to a different power source!

And the other question which I forgot to ask in my first post....do you have a power management system, like an Intellitec? These device monitor current draw and shuts down units to keep you under the 50 amps/leg. As 96 Wildeglide posted, it is always possible that it is a park power issue.

A minor clarification... the Intellitec unit will shut down loads to keep the sum of both legs under a total of 20 or 30 amps if you are running on limited power. It does nothing when on 50 amps shore power. (In fact, the way it's built, it can't even properly measure the current you are using on 50 amp power, which is why the amps readout goes blank when on 50 amp power.)

A/C problem

I have no power mgmt. The issue has shown up at the last few parks. This park tested very well.
