A/C Service/DIY Repair Upgrades

Here's my latest update for servicing overhead A/C with our 2008 Camelot. Thanks to all for the advice.
Not much air coming out of overhead duct work/vents.
Removed interior interior ceiling cover:
1) cleaned all vent work/ filter.
2) inspected both blower side and coil side. Checked all seams, white rubber flap, installed foil tape even on the upper compression seal to whit flap. I noticed large holes for electrical and other lines. I installed foil tape around these areas too.
3) checked ducts leveling a/c unit: foil taped these areas also.
Sorry didn't take photo my phone was almost dead.

The advice from everyone was to check the exit overhead vents. The interior tube extends into the actual duct work. Mine were extended almost 3/8" into the duct ( see picture) I cut that much off which increased the overall flow. Click image for larger version

Checking my one issue while I was out at the coach. A/C dash passenger vent. The farthest vent was no flow: removed my dash panel looked with flash light. Sure enough the a/c hose was laying on the dash floor. Big dilemma, can't reach in with arm to reconnect. I was thinking making a mechanical arm that will hold and bend the hose back over the end. Then figure out how to hold it there. Any ideas from all would be helpful.

I have a long flexable "grabber" tool that you depress the button with your thumb and the little hooks extend and then retract when you release it. Very handy for grabbing things that have fallen down into a difficult place. Should be able to find one at Sears or an Amazon.

Vito thx for idea I have one from Matco years ago. I will share some pics tomorrow when I try my idea out. It has to be somewhat rigid to reach almost 4 1/2 feet to the far side of passenger dash area. Besides that help turn the end if the hose 90 degrees to the flange on vent. Update tomorrow

I don't know how big your vent is but you can take the vent off and maybe you'll be able to reach in through that opening to pull the "hose" through, affix it to the vent then reinstall the vent. I've had to do this a couple of times on different vehicles.

Great point, what tried was maintains exterior pressure to see if collar behind would hold enough to spin off the back. It does; question again how do I get it back on with this long reach from behind? Also is a very narrow path to reach into because of the the location of the heater core housing case. I'm sure this was easily reachable as it was installed on the assembly line, e.g. No sides or nose installed yet. Thx for the suggestion!

I had a similar problem with that exact vent. Never any air flow there. I couldn't even see behind to know if the hose had fallen off. When I was at Elite RV & Restoration, I asked them if they could look at it and try to fix it. They showed me that at the factory they had never cut the hole behind the vent to run the hose through. It had never worked from the day it was new! No hose, no hole, nothing. They cut the hole in the dash behind the vent, added a hose and now it works. That job was way above my pay grade.

Ok now what you all were waiting for, right. See pics, let's say in a nutshell a few body contortions, a few cuss words and presto, it's finally back on the right passenger vent. Let me know if you have questions. Click image for larger version

One day when I'm tech savoy like Happycarz, I can place words and arrows on my postings. Good thing it wasn't a video.

Happycarz is very impressed with your solution to return the hose to its proper place. May your navigator be happy.

Perry, the app I use to annotate pictures is "Skitch for iPad." The best part is that it is free. The bad part is that you need to buy an iPad if you don't already have one.

The irv2 iPhone/iPad is easier to add pictures to a post. Editing your post to correct a mistake is not as good as the computer version, but I use the iPad app 99% of the time. A little give and take on the two versions. They both work fine.

You may hate me for being late on this suggestion. Use a flashlight and look under the entry arm grab rail. Get down low and look up at the bottom of the dash. You should find several screws to remove and the plastic cover will come down. I have had mine off so many times I installed a zipper on it.
