A Couple Pics, A Couple Questions, VMSpc

I'm trying to be sure I get the right stuff to install a VMSpc in my 99 Windsor. I'm not positive what engine I have because I can't find the engine dataplate. I do know it's an ISC but not sure if it's 300 or 330 HP. I do have the owners manual for my engine, but the diagram for location of the plate just isn't clear. Can someone tell me where it is from the picture attached? Or, do you recognize this engine as a 300HP or what?

I also want to be sure I order the right cable connector so there is a pic from under my dash. I know it's the middle connector marked "Engine" but are all the pins always in the same locaction?

As always, thanks for your help.

Madrona.....On mine, the data plate was right on top of the valve cover. In your picture you can see what looks like a shiny label on the front edge of your cover. On mine it was above that on top.

The center plug in your other photo is where the cable connects for VMSpc. You need the six pin plug. You don't need to know what motor you have to order the cable. Once you connect the cable and turn the system on, it will prompt you to go to another screen and select your engine. The plug configuration is all you need for ordering.

I bought my cable from RVUpgrades RVUpgradeStore - VMS PC Complete Engine Monitoring on Your Laptop

Thanks, Don, I'll take another look, that is where I expected to see the plate but it just wasn't there. The book says it's on top of the "gear cover" whatever that is.

OK, so just a six pin plug, easy enough. It's when I get to selecting the engine that I'm going to have a problem if I can't find that plate!

Thanks for your help once again.

I believe the gear cover is the oblong cover in the center right of your A/C belt.

The 99 Windsor is a 330 ISC engine and that was the only engine offered. On the VMSpc there is a new style out that has the USB plug the old style had the serial plug and we had to get a serial to a usb X over, it will hook to the middle mark engine.

Good info, Walt, that makes it very simple! I did notice they finally have a USB cable, that does save a lot of potential hassles.
