As everyone should know by now, we are broke down and have been camping in the lot of Corning Truck & RV Repair, since last Monday. Soooooo, it being the weekend, we decided to have date night...went to the movies in Chico (23 miles away) saw Hairspray...and then came back to Corning to eat dinner out...that was a mistake. Other than the truck stops or the casino here, you can eat at a mexican restaurant or a mexican restaurant. So, we decided to eat at a mexican restaurant. Now we are watching Man of the Year with Robin Williams on HBO...hopefully they will have the motor buttoned up on Monday, and after I am comfortable that everything is in order, and we run it around here for 50 to 100 miles, we can start home on Tuesday. At least I hope so!!! Thanks to all who have sent their best wishes....$$$$ would have been more helpful

Sorry to hear you are "stuck" in Corning. Since you have a toad to get around, let me suggest a wonderful little restaurant in Red Bluff, about 20 miles north on I-5.
Luigi's is a "fast food" type, but not really, Italian restaurant, with modest prices and great food. In some respects it resembles a pizza restaurant, and they do have great pizza. But all their food is good. My wife and I have eaten there several times and, except for a tip, have never paid more than $15 for the 2 of us.
Go north on I-5 to the 99/36 off ramp (also known as Antelope Blvd.) Go west, over I-5, and make a right turn at the first signal, Gilmore Road. Luigi's in on your right as you go around the corner.
I hope a treat of this nature will take some of the "sting" out of your Corning experience.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">and we run it around here for 50 to 100 miles </div></BLOCKQUOTE>hmmm ...the way I calculate it ... you are less than 125 miles from MonacoMama's Cafe...might be a good shakedown trip. Maybe you should stop by to meet SacsTC at his special table in the Cafe!
You might even convince MonacoMama to make some "Americanized" tacos with real guacamole!

Glad you enjoyed it. We live 70 miles due east of Red Bluff, at 4500'. We get down there a couple of times a year to shop and visit my wife's brother in Redding, and always plan to eat a meal there.
I hope all goes well with the repairs to your MH and that you'll be able to enjoy the rest of your trip.

Paul:
Been to Lake Alminor several times. A friend of mine had a business in Reno, and used to keep a trailer at an RV park at the lake. We met him there several times....Beautiful area. We live at 5300 ft in Prescott, AZ...
If MH fixed tomorrow, we are heading home....a week at Camp Corning has put a damper on any further travel this trip!

With any luck, today will be the day they button up the engine...we fire it off, and everything works great! I'll then run it up and down the freeway to ensure no leaks, etc. and we can start home...it's one week today we have been stuck here in Corning. Way toooooo long!

An update:
Corning Truck had me drive to Sacramento (125 miles each way!)to pick up a part at Cummins...got back, and it was wrong....the owners son had ordered the wrong part...of course it was not his fault...he tried to show me on his computer...we had some "words"....I told him I didn't care what caused the mistake, get the @#%## right part, and I didn't want to waste another day. 20 minutes later, the tech knocks on the door, and says, we got the part and we will get it buttoned up today. Soooo, I hope he is right.

The tech said "from up front"...sooooo, it would appear they may have had one all the time....I am suppossed to work in SAC next week, so, the new plan is: if it isn't ready tomorrow, then Gloria will take the car and drive home by herself, and I will take the MH to SAC and work all week and then drive it home. That's of course assuming they get her done this week!!! Well, they are back there working on it as we speak....

Oh nooooooo, it's 3P and Gloria is into the wine already....this confirms she is getting bored, either with me or sitting here in Camp Corning...
She's defending her wine glass by saying it's wine time somewhere in the world
