Accelerator pedal

I have a 94 Executive and am having a problem that I am unable to solve.
Just so you know this issue is intermittent. where to begin my rig sometimes wont start unless I operate the throttle from the engine compartment during this time my accelerator has no response until I operate it manually at the engine for a little while then the petal starts to work it has once stopped as I was driving off. any Ideas would be greatly appreciated.

You'll have to determine in you have an electric, air, or cable operated pedal. I would suspect the position sensor in the pedal is bad.

I don't know your rig. However if you have a wired gas pedal vs a cable, my guess is the rheostat on the pedal had a bad spot and could cause it to be intermittent.

It might help identify your accelerator pedal method if you can post a photo of the mechanism that pulls on the throttle on the engine. Since you said it starts to work after you manually pull on the linkage at the engine, it could be an issue at that point.

As a supporting member, you can upload 1000 photos to your iRV2 album. Once the photo is in the album, copy the link to the photo and use the small yellow box with the sun and mountain in it. A window will open and you can paste the link to the photo in the box.

You can also use a free photo hosting site like Photobucket. When you upload a photo it provides a link to the photo you can use with the yellow photo icon above.

I think the last pic may be from the petal the others may be the brakes its very hard to see under there.

From the photos, it's hard to tell. What engine and chassis? Since it's a '94, I assume it's not a ECU controlled throttle. The red line (pics 1 and 2) could be an air line. If it's air operated, it might not respond at start up if your air tanks have bled down so low as to not have sufficient pressure to operate. Does the unresponsive throttle ever happen when air is up? The controller would be under the pedal. If you can crawl under and spot air lines from the accelerator, not the brake treadle, that would confirm it's air operated.

Also all that split covering on the wires or lines makes it hard to tell, but it looks like compression nuts for air lines, not electrical connections.

Those are definitely air lines, so the problem isn't electrical but the air valve in the foot pedal.

Ok I just did an experiment I started it up it idled air psi was 20PSI I had no pedal response until the pressure reached 40 Psi so now I Know I need at least 30 PSI for petal response. Thank you guys VERY much. I am about to embark on a journey from New Mexico To Atlanta Then to New Orleans back to Atl then to SC and back home.
This really gives me some peace of mind.
