Adjusting Slide Rollers

Are these supposed to be loose like this? The rollers at the other end of the cabinet arenít loose so Iím guessing no. The locking tabs are not engaged on any of the rollers. If not, how tight do you adjust them?

The issue I have now is the slide is tilted in at the top when it is fully extended so the inner seal is not compressed equally, top to bottom. The bottom is fine but there is a slight gap at the top. Thatís not good for water tight integrity. Iím thinking the rollers need adjusted out, down from those inside the coach, and up from those in the wheel well and propane tank compartment.

The one in the wheel well doesnít look great. The bolts turn freely, but I should take them out, treat them for the rust and paint them. The cover was only held on by one screw. Two holes were drilled, but only one had a screw in it. The other hole was covered by undercoating. Thereís not a lot of room up there to drill, but Iíd like 4 screws holding it on.

I havenít removed the other cover yet.

I removed the cover from the roller in the propane compartment. The screws came out fairly easily considering itís pretty much a blind operation and the tank limits access. This roller is in much better shape than the one in the wheel well.

Both adjusters were loose, probably more than the one in the video. I think the slide has been rolling in and out on two rollers. I found an adjustment procedure posted by Walt2137 in 2013. He said to put the slide 1/3 of the way out, back off the adjustment bolts until the roller is loose. Next, tighten the bolts until the roller makes firm contact with the floor, then tighten the bolt 1/2 to 3/4 turn more.

Iím going to give that a try to see where that leaves me.

It’s much quieter when it moved in and out and the gap is smaller at the top, but it still doesn’t extend equally top to bottom. I adjusted the out stop so that both sides are 17 7/8” at the bottom and the top is still extending a full inch less. Any suggestions?

I did notice the slide topper is tight at the front end of the slide and considerably looser at the rear.

Have you tried adjusting the bolts on the arms that shift the top in and out?

Well, I think the problem might have solved itself. In the process of moving the slide in and out, I heard a loud thump and the slide fully extended. I went outside to see what happened and saw this. The slide topper must have jammed and the slide bent that arm. I took the other pic earlier today.

How do I get it off without hurting myself or damaging the slide?

I have that same POS setup on my coach and am having it replaced with a separate slide topper unit and window awning on the 5th by shade pro.
Mine slide topper was ripped open in 45-50 mph crosswind in Idaho Falls. (the second time) This time it ripped the fabric. Shade Pro told me they stopped installing them after three years of having to fix them. You will find there not made anymore.

Rally Info | TALIN RV believe Talin sells new arms for these awnings.

Here's one on Ebay

The arm isn’t the issue I’m worried about. The mechanism that extends and retracts the awning obviously didn’t unwind as the slide extended. I just want to get it off now.

Do you still have the anti billow locks on the awning? If these were engaged it won't let the awning out.

Mine were disabled when I bought my rig and never fixed them back.

What do they look like? Are they the short levers in the second pic above?

This is the anti billowing device I took off my Allegro. After I changed my "topper", it started to catch on the support bar. The slide would start out from the bottom and then the top of the slide would catch. Then bang, the top would catch up (just a few inches). Repeat until all the way out. Took a while to figure it out. Took it off and no more problems.
No billowing either. Click image for larger version

Yes, that is what I call the anti billow lock, don't know that the actual names.

It the lever is in the wrong position and it latches into geared portion it will prevent the awning from coming out.
