Adjusting the slide-out 97 Holiday Rambler

Greetings-

I've a '97 Holiday Rambler Endeavor LE - been kept in excellent shape, I've owned it for about 7 months now, no trips yet.

I'm trying to figure out how to adjust the slide out - it's down about a half-inch at the forward side vs rear, and extends maybe a quarter inch more in the rear than the front. It currently extends and retracts ok, however it seems like it's binding a bit. I don't believe it's ever been serviced.

I've pulled down the PowerGear Service manual and I don't find precisely the model - the moving arms are welded to the slide-out so no adjustment there can be had. There are no adjustments on this thing that I can see. it's not a flat-floor, if I understand what that is- where the slide-out drops flush when extended.

I've seen where someone has written about this, I'd appreciate any advice from someone who has been through the process.

I've been looking at the TIP sheets in the PowerGear document but the adjustments they show do not exist on my model.

Thanks!

Sounds like you may have a roller issue. Using a flashlight look under the slide to see if you have a slide roller issue. I've had 3 rollers go bad. Bent axles. If that's the issue you will need more info for replacement or a service shop.

I have 3 rollers under the large drivers side slide. The slide has the kitchen cabinets/sink in it.

Two of the rollers can be accessed by removing a draw and bottom the cabinet under the sink.
My slide, toward the rear of the coach, was dragging on the floor. I adjusted the back 2 rollers up slightly so it held the slide off the floor.

The front roller has to be accessed via the front drivers side wheel well from outside, it has a plastic cover over it. I did not fool with this one.

If you do not have a kitchenette in your slide the adjustment will probably have to be made from the basement compartments.

Thanks for the help - I do have the kitchen in the slide-out - found two of the rollers on which the inside of the slide-out moves along the house floor. Their covering seems to be fine in terms of shredding or other abrasion or damage.

You might check the main gear support system accessed from the basement compartments. There are heavy rollers under the heavy support bar. Make sure nothing is wrong with these.

Annually I spray the gear, roller, and bar system with a silicone spray to help lubricate it. I don't use an oil since it would collect dirt.

The rest of the story-

I found the third one under the couch - had to remove the drawer and there it was - one bolt on either end of the 5" roller - the bolts allowed me to adjust the height of the front of the room. I suppose to get this right, I'll also need to raise the middle roller some to compensate for the new gap in the middle of the slideout. Bottom line, I was able to raise the front of the room so that it matches the rear, and this took out the imbalance in the vertical gap at the front of the slide-out and allowed the seal to move properly.

Still don't know what brand of gear is driving the slideout but this is the way you adjust these older Holiday Ramblers. Hope this helps someone.
