Adjusting Weight on Tag Axle
A fellow next to me at the RV park has a 45' 2006 Beaver Patriot Thunder. He needs to increase the weight on the tag axle as his current load on the drive axle is 29,000 lbs which is way over what it should be. Is there instructions as to how to do this and how much weight is added to the tag per the adjustment increments?
Thanks

What is his current pressure? I would guess at 45# to start with then circle through a CAT scale and adjust to get all the axles under the max. Remember as you increase the tag pressure to take weight off the drive axle you will also increase the front axle weight.

Adjusting Weight on Tag Axle
I'm at 37.3K lbs on a 42 tag with a 44.6K lbs gross. The pressure on the tag was set at 28 at the factory and all is well.
If your friends tag has VERY low pressure, it will need adjusting or possibly a search for a leak. But if it must require too much, I suggest his load be moved around to try to help. Otherwise, perhaps a "divestiture" of load is in order.
There is a adjustment gizmo somewhere. Mine is in the motor compartment. His manual should tell him where it is. Otherwise a call to Monaco or an online download of the pdf of the manual should provide the location.
As stated, increasing the tag pressure will make the drive axel act as a fulcrum and increase the weight on the front axel. Must be very careful on that!
An aquaintance of mine carried more tools than a Snap-on truck in front of the drive axel. Took him a while, and some off-loading to fix it.
Best wishes!

Set mine on 60 psi. That is where the coach drives and handles the best

Phil, have you put your Exec on a truck scales and measured how much total weight is on the front axle with 60 psi in the tag. I tried mine up there on the scales and exceeded both the max allowable weight on the tires and the front axle. Even at 42 psi where I run it now I upgraded to 315 tires on the steer axle for a safety margin

I have just over 12k (12,200 if memory serves) pounds on my steer axle, 17,500 on the drive and 7200 on my tag for a total of around 37k and my tag air pressure is set @ 34 psi.
To me 60 psi seems way high. I would suggest weighing the coach, each axle and setting the air pressure accordingly, not guessing based on what others have theirs set at.

You only need total axle weight to adjust the tag.

X2 that, Mike. They may ride and drive a bit better with extra front weight but can be dangerous if over.

I adjusted mine while of a set of six scale pads from a weighing guy at a Rally. I found that a small tag adjustment varied the amount on the tag a lot. I would have to find my notes, but about 4 pounds was 1,000 on the front axle.

I also have a Camelot, 42KFQ. I am at 14,300 on the front with 14,600 max, at 28psi, factory setting. That is with full fuel and water, 1/2 in grey/black.
What psi did you end up at?

good thread, I have recently adjusted tag pressure but have not been able to weigh yet. drive axle was nearing limit (19K, limit of 20K) and tag was only at about 5K with Harley on Hydrolift hanging off the back. Steer was under by almost 2K. I adjusted 40psi to 48psi. I'm now very anxious to find out what it did.

If your HD is on the lift, that may be why the front was light. Without the HD you may overload the front. Remember, the drive axel is a fulcrum. Maybe weight with and without the HD?
