After ten years.... slide leak

I own a 2005 40PLQ Knight since new. The bedroom slide on the curb side, the one with the bed on it, has always appeared to be off side to side, being tighter on the right side than the left looking from the outside. There has never been a leak problem until now. The flap seal at the left top starts to come away from the slide about 18 inches when extended and there is where the leak is, when extended. The slide has a single geared bar unlike the other three slides. I have not yet opened the boxed-in motor and gears under the bed. It appears to me the entire slide needs to be moved to the left about one inch. Has anyone had this done or has anyone done the fix themselves? Any help would be appreciated.

I like your choice of motorhome! Yep I had the very same problem!

There are two problems and three fixes. First, like yours my slide leaned to the right (facing the outside of the slide). This allowed rain to blow by the side seal. After several different tries, I jacked up the slide while extended, pulled the facia to the left of the bed and shimmed up the roller using a piece of 3/8 plywood. This positioned the slide in the middle of the opening and evened out the slide seal.

The second problem issue was with collection of rainwater that got past the seals. There is a rubber seal inside the side seal that has a small pocket at the bottom that throws collected water to the outside. Reach inside the seal from the outside and you can feel it. With the facia pulled off I could see daylight thru the pocket from pinholes. I used silicone to reseal the pocket. This is probably why it has started leaking suddenly.

Lastly I installed guttering angled down on the side of the slide to direct water away from the back of the slide. This was done by Monaco on later model of coaches. Look at later model coaches if you don't know what I am talking about. You can get the guttering from Camping World.

Hasn't leaked in the past 1 1/2 years and 20,000 miles.

Good Luck

Thanks, I will see what I can do when it stops raining. I am thankful it does not leak when the slide is retracted.
