Smile AGM Battery questions

Our 05 HR Navigator (first sold in 04) came equipped as an all electric coach. It has 6 8D size 12 volt AGM Batteries for the coach and 2 8D size 12 volt cranker batteries. I figure these batteries are at least 5 years old. They still work perfectly. My question is; how long do these batteries last. I know they are quite expensive and all should be replaced at the same time.
Anybody have experience with an all electric coach?

I am seven years on my AGM batteries and they are still working like new. I think I'll get many more years out of them.

I just put AGM in our coach and had reports of 10 plus years from other users. They are not cheap so I hape they last a looong time.

There are several things that affect the life of the batteries.

Number of charge/discharge cycles, How deep they are discharged, how often they are over charged, how rapid is the charge/discharge

Battery life of 7-10 years if properly cared for is not uncommon

I'd not replace them till they show signs of failing.

Maybe the question should be: should I replace with AGM's when the current batteries give out. If you are not a big dry camper you might want to consider flooded batteries when the AGM's give out, which could be a long time. To be sure, AGM's are great to have if you dry camp a lot but a huge waste of money if you don't. We dry camp less than 25% of the time and our current flooded batteries are 4 years old. When they give out I will replace them with flooded batteries. IMHO AGM's are great for dry campers but not for those of us that only dry camp once in awhile. I think the general concensus is to replace all the batteries at the same time. Otherwise, you will chase gremlins all the time.

Good point Sixpack

AGM's are expensive

FLooded wet cells give about the same life (if you get quality batteries) but they DO require service, I have to water mine every year, if they need it or not (Add distilled water every mother's day or there about)

Now, Mine are 4 years old and still perform like new

HOWEVER, a word of warning, There are some converters that kill battereies fast.. I don't have one of those, but some folks report needing to water their Flooded wet cells every month, or even every week.. you get one of those. a new converter may be a good thing.
